The FA-1 / FB-1 Locomotive is Back

Just saw that Atlas is 'bringing back' (actually they are saying it's a new model) the FA-1 and FB-1 to N scale:

https://shop.atlasrr.com/c-1518-n21...-80815621&mc_cid=ec7be4a49e&mc_eid=ff59d0d59d

Five roads and six paint schemes.

This is awesome news, but it is going to really hurt my wallet.  Very happy that they're doing NYC sound units in the first run, though.  If I had to bet, these will end up shipping out the same month the Kato 20th Century Ltd will ship.

I should sell my C-Liner sets before they bring those back...

Very eastern road dominated run of road names.

Time will tell when delivery dates come, but it seems that the 'Lifelike Stuff' Factory seems to have their sh*t together.. As Atlas is comfortable pushing out announcements of upgraded (Gold series with Sound) Life Like Models, and freight cars on a monthly basis.

I'm not sure what the transaction cost was to obtain this tooling, but I'm guessing once the releases roll out, Atlas could be laughing all the way to the bank.. considering all the opportunities that Walthers either wasted, or ignored over the last several years..

And I hope Walters is watching and noticing this!  But they will still admit there's no profit in N.

Sometime in 2019 is what they've advertised.  I'm just being facetious, as there aren't too many big NYC announcements, but of these are currently two big ones in my mind.  So it would only make sense that they'd both get released at the same time.  Just like when all the PRR guys went nuts over the multiple steamers coming out within a couple months of each other....

Sweet!  Here's hoping the excellently-decorated former Life-Like shells are a drop-fit onto the new Atlas mechanisms.  This will save me plenty of time regarding sound-equipped Alco FA units.
