Is there any interest in N scale GP40-2LW and C-415 kits?

If we can generate enough interest Briggs Models is considering producing the following kits in N scale.

GP40-2LW unit numbers 9400-9632. This kit will include body, pilots, etched handrail, detail parts, and fuel tank. The model will fit the Atlas GP40-2, GP40, GP38 chassis. The price is expected to be $110 CAD.

C415- The model will include body, cab, fuel tank, frame, etched details, and a water cut weight Similar to the SDL39 kit. There will also be some exhaust variants which will be provided for in the kit. This will use latest run Atlas RS3 trucks and motor. The price is expected to be $125 CAD

From the kit you will be able to build the following versions, Southern Pacific, high cab, AAR trucks, Rock Island, medium cab, AAR trucks, Spokane Portland and Seattle/Burlington Northern - medium cab, hi-ad trucks, Hammersly Iron- medium cab, AAR trucks, Chehalis Western- high cab, hi-ad trucks and Columbia and Cowlitz- high cab, hi-ad trucks.

The model will be 3–D printed to a quality similar to injection modeled plastic kits.

As this is, a different process compared to regular 3-D printing (i.e. Shapeways) there is no removal of the waxy material on the subject during the printing process. The kits and parts come ready to build.

This is only an expression of interest/order list. No cash up front from anyone. Once the model has been completed and ready for purchase, I will contact you and it will be put it up for sale on the Briggs Models website. You will be able to order directly from the site by using PayPal, credit card, or by mail if desired.  http://www.briggsmodels.ca/

If you are interested in having this kit produced please email me your contact information and the number of kits you might be interested in which I will pass on to Jeff. My email address is chrisd@briggsmanufacturingassociates.com. Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone who may be interested or post elsewhere.

Kind regards,
Chris Dittmar

Oh god yes. I have tried to make a GP40-2LW with an Athcabasca kit, a Kaslo kit and from parts pulled from IM SD40-2Ws. All have failed for various reasons.

I have waved to have one or two pained in Guilford and one in CN.

I would really like to see handrails done like his recent S13. Bending piano wire was never a strength.

What is the time frame that Jeff is thinking for production? Only curious, but I will be ordering two C-415s if they make it to production.

GhengisKong - I believe Jeff has already completed the research for both kits so he could get started with the CAD work and testing right after Christmas. The company doing the photo etched parts is really good with quick delivery times. If there are enough orders, (40 is the magic number?) I suspect you would see this kit come to fruition around March 2019.

Daniel- Shoot me an email with your contact information and I will put you on the list for the GP40-2LW. Yes, the hand rails will be done in the same fashion as the S-13

Thanks,

Chris

As long as the GP40-2 LW comes with a removable dynamic brake section so I can add the appropriate ones for KCS I’d be in for that.

Oh man. If I can put the funds together I’m in for two GP40-2w. But like I said with the 50ft TOFC cars, I don’t commit unless I have cash in hand. And I want like 10 of them. Ha ha.

So I’ll say I’m in for a soft 2.

Stop suggesting every model I want please.

Craig.

An SP&S C415 would be nice, although my railroad doesn't NEED one.  I can't promise to buy one, but would like to have one.

I'm up for an SP version. Possibly two, as they frequently ran in pairs in transfer service in Los Angeles.

(C-415, that is. If it wasn't obvious.  )

I can't believe we are in an age where anyone with a few $1000 in equipment and a lot of talent can MAKE their own engines from the trucks up. I love this hobby!

An optional part will be provided for Dynamic and Non Dynamic break sections.

Hi Chris,

I would definitely be in for a GP40-2LW.

They were quite common over Tehachapi in 1999 as run through power  :)

Thanks for all your work on this!

Cheers
