Some have been asking about CAD programs, so I thought I would start a new thread on "CAD Software". I hope this will aid in keeping this thread on track about the printer.

Amazon had the Anycubic Photon also. Price is listed as $519.00 which is higher than some but still not bad.  Prime members get two day shipping free and my page shows a $70 coupon to bring the cost down to $449.00 shipped.  Doesn't look like it includes any resin though.  There are many offers of resin on the Amazon site for various prices. I don't know which are good deals.

I think all Photons come with 250ml of resin as part of the tool kit.

Just posting the Railwire Amazon link again:
https://amzn.to/2REBunm
I'm clicking the link and then searching "FEP Film for UV 3D Printers - 5mil (0.127mm) Thick - 6 Pack" to get more films.
I rarely use Amazon, but since I am might as well help The Railwire out.

I'm going to be that guy.... Is this thing Mac compatible? I've been scrounging all over the 3d printers bay page and can't seem to find an answer.

Thanks!

The machine operates via USB stick, so it doesn't directly connect with anything.  Anycubic does have a Mac version of the slicer program on their website, however it is only a Beta.

Before removing the part from the plate, I've been tilting and shaking it above the resin vat to let as much of the excess resin drip back in.  Then I dip the part in a container full of 91% IPA and give it a good swishing, followed by a rinse in water, and repeated one more time.  Granted there is a lot of 'inside' on this part to get drips out of, but it seems like the drip was already partially cured, so I'm not sure what exactly is happening there.  This one barely sat for 5 minutes after the print completed.

An update on drips/blobs.  They're definitely uncured (not partially cured) resin that I just didn't get fully removed.  The solution is to leave the part in IPA a bit longer to let the uncured resin fully dissolve.  I've even taken a fine bristle toothbrush and given complex parts a gentle massage, and there are a lot of folks on YouTube giving parts a 10-15 minute bath in the Ultrasonic Cleanser full of IPA.

But, don't leave them soaking too long.  I left a batch of Tank Treads soaking through the night and woke up to squishy parts.  They'll dry out, but might have a slight warp to them now.

And you can UV cure the left over IPA so any resin in it hardens and then just scoop it out.

I had this experience with FUD when soaking in Windex to remove the acrylic paint I had screwed up.  They didn't need to soak overnight, I just forgot about them.  Next day they were mushy and visibly warped.  They did dry out pretty quickly (within an hour or so?) and returned to the original dimension and properties to the best I could tell on the small part I was working on (a work bench).

So Windex (ammonia?) affects the FUD resin (from Shapeways)?  That is interesting, because that stuff is resistant to much harsher solvents (like Heptane or Naphtha). Good to know.

Windex also has some alcohol in it, and that could be the offending solvent if left to soak long enough. I know the hard way that 91% IPA will turn FUD/FXD to goo in minutes.
