Product suggestion - pickup campers

Since N scale now has a decent, if still limited, variety of pickup trucks, from the 50s to "modern", it would be nice to have some campers to go in them.  They've been common since at least the 60s, the prototypes are designed to fit any "standard" pickup bed, and they are, or were, a common sight in most of the US and Canada.

Since it's almost impossible to see inside one, especially in the daytime, simple resin castings would work fine.  Designs haven't changed much over the years, so it should be possible to find some generic-looking models suitable for any of the pickups currently available.  Most also have basic paint schemes, so most modelers wouldn't have any trouble finishing unpainted castings.

Most of the pickup models would need to have the tailgate removed, but the new Atlas F-100 has a removable gate, and there may be others I don't know about.  In any case, that wouldn't be a hard job.

I have two; one is a resin casting and the other is a finished model.  Will have to look for you to see who made them.

That Willmodels one looks very nice, but 3D printing seems a little expensive for such a simple model.  Might have to buy one, though.

One of the campers I have is a resin kit from Road Apples:  #2104 '72 GMC Camper.  The camper and truck are a one piece clear resin casting with separate black wheels.  it is still in the package.

The second one is also a resin model which came finished and painted; the truck and camper are two separate pieces.  I do not recall who I got them from but they were nicely done.

Yeah, I also ran into that Road Apples model, but couldn't find a link with a picture. Searching the web for images did nothing for us, "Road Apples" conjures up a whole bunch of other... uh... "stuff".

LOL, the original company was named after "those" apples. 

But in today's computer-search-engine-based world, the name is a huge hindrance in searches.  Just as bad is the "Scale Trains" company.  Try searching for models from that company.

I have one of those, and it is a nice model.  Fits my era perfectly.  I also have a Tomytech Datsun pickup with a canvas bed cover, which doesn't look out of place in the early 70s Northwest. 

It wasn't unusual for people, especially tent campers, to make their own "canopies", rather than buy a commercial unit.  We built one from plywood and small mobile home windows for a late 50s GMC pickup.  The bed wasn't entirely waterproof, wooden floor, but it worked fine for us kids to ride in to and from the campsites.  Someday I might make something similar for the layout.

It's a bit of a pain to find a specific model/year, but 'MadAboutCars' on Shapeways (https://www.shapeways.com/shops/madaboutcars?section=1%2F160&s=0) has a very extensive line of N-scale vehicles. Over 1300 total. From the 1940's through today. I recall seeing a slide in camper there last week while I was searching. But it might take a while to find it. They aren't in any kind of order, so you have to go through page by page.
