Doggone - two Overland Brass N-Scale Schnabel cars sold this weekend on the Bay for upwards of 3/4 of a thousand each.
Here is a picture of mine -still needs stirrups and populating the lower and upper decks.
It is all brass except for the trucks and couplers and lifting arms. I thought about making the Lifting arms out of
brass sheet and tubes -- mebbe I should have. I'm still like the dog that caught the car, what do I do with it?

I am getting closer to having Pacific Electric Express Motor 1445 in revenue. Just like 1124, she needs windows, lights and poles.

Unfortunately, there are no accurately spaced freight motor decals, so I used passenger car lettering.

This past week I made a compass with a slot at one end to fit my extendable utility knife blade, and then used it to cut the foam for an end loop:


Worked out really nice because I could just pull on the Masonite and hold the knife in place, and not have to try to pull the knife through the foam while also keeping the blade from wandering off the desired path.  Here's the result after I got done cutting it:


And here it is after I glued the foam to the sectional frame and got it set on the benchwork:

Good to know. I've been planning to list mine for a while but haven't overcome inertia to go through the listing process.  Those prices might get me off my rear.

I decided to finish up UP 7964 this weekend. It has been sitting disassembled in a box for over a year and I figured it was time to put it back together. It's just a stock FVM with the usual details and a little weathering on the vents.

@bnsfdash8  Dang...I love every single one of your projects, and this is no exception.

Late to the wk update. The worse the heat is outside the more I get done in the basement. Installed enough trees to finish out the north end of the layout going into the tunnel. I might be modeling peak fall in the Poconos but hopefully I’ve kept the nuclear bright yellows and reds at bay. If anyone wants overly punched out colors, feel free to drop by grab some images and oversaturate away in photoshop.

I might actually cut some of those foreground trees, blocking my view.

No, IMHO it adds credibility and continuity to the scene.
Besides sticky fingers, padded shoulders and big noses will get 'em soon enough...

Don't. One of my favorite prototype photos that I have taken is of a Southern Pacific SD40-T2 through bushes at Caliente.

Yeah, keep the trees!  Talk about modeling real life, excellent work!

No worries, they will stay. Yup agreed a little mess and ‘nonperfectism’  within a layout adds to the realism.  @David K. Smith has been a good master of that on his latest layout.

You could have posted that in the Thursday prototype photos and I would not have called you out on it. And leave the foreground trees just as they are- makes the shot look like you were hiking by.  You can always take the "railroad photographer shot" from a slightly higher angle and frame the locomotive emerging from the tunnel.

One possible change..... big steam locomotive with a "large passel" of coal hoppers....just a suggestion.

Shots like that remind me of how many years of work I have ahead of me to catch up to some of you guys.
