A CR and/or Pennsylvania Northeastern C39-8 will be my first Scale Trains locomotive purchase!  The following video has always furthered my interest to model the Lansdale Cluster:

I wonder if this is the direction for a future layout?  I could model the Lansdale Cluster during the RDG, CR, and modern era... The 4785 hoppers also look great too!!

They announced these just because I finished updating all my C39-8s for shapeways.

I'll be in for a couple of these.

I guess you could revise the drawings to make a C32-8...

I don't know how a railroad can operate efficiently on trackage like that.  It would take forever to go only a few miles.  Must have pretty relaxed standards.

The C39-8 looks amazing. I'm in for at least one Conrail. Do we think the marker lights are operational? From the photos it could go either way, but the website doesn't say anything about it.

NS and Pennsylvania Northeastern definitely do not.  At least not the production sample, the markers are painted over.  The Conrail however has a lens, so possibly.

A little Pennsylvania Northeastern showed up on the layout today.  We turned the odometer from 0 to 61.3 scale miles (Boulder Creek Engineering RollBy Onboard Speedometer).

And there's only one word I need to describe the way it looks, operates, and sounds.  Perfect!

So again, as someone who hasn’t really followed ScaleTrains before, when can we expect delivery?

Ahem..Handrails don't match the body color...ahem ;)

Minor nitpicks aside, it really is a nice looking loco, and I hope to see some more common prototypes from ST in the future..So far my game has remained unchanged, but if they made something I needed, I'm sure I'd bite...

Looks great. I love that the "shadow" from where the can opener was is visible on the side.

That's probably just phone camera illusion.   I would have noticed a difference on the real deal, but I didn't.

I've never seen one of these in Nebraska, and definitely not these road names.   But, once again having the honor of first run on the production unit,  like with the T4 Gevo,  I just might have to get one anyway.    :)

They post estimated delivery dates on their webpage. They are saying Fall of 2018, and they have been pretty close on everything so far.

Saw the pilot models on Friday. All the CR units look great. Note — the coupler pockets do allow for swapping in MTL 1015s.

... the coupler pockets do allow for swapping in MTL 1015s.

Are the pockets cast into the pilots? That's been their philosophy so far. I've had an exchange with them twice about the TSC and how integrated "compatible" pockets make a swap to the newer design a big project. I still haven't converted my turbines yet because of the complexity, the amount of carving involved on these fragile models, and having to do six on each set.

I suggested incorporating a separate 1015-dimensioned box (like the other makers) as an alternative to make both possible. If they discussed this internally after our last exchange (re. the carbon black cars) and are willing to take it on, it was probably too late to incorporate into the C39-8 design cycle, so I'll give 'em a pass on this. But if the newly announced hoppers have the same problem there's going to be much unhappiness in Mudville.
