NEW Bachmann N-Scale Sound Equipped 2-8-0

Got one these from MBK this afternoon.

From the diagram has the can motor like the 4-6-0.

My guesstimate is a 15mm diameter speaker facing downward  in the tender.

Full Soundtraxx Economi with all the sounds.

Runs and sounds really great, am impressed.

Nice!
I've been eying these up (especially when they start getting deeply discounted) for a bunch of nefarious purposes.

How well do they pull, weight, traction tires?

I have 2 on order, a WP and a UP through Hogtrainz , can't wait to see how they are. Full sound effects from B. Mann. Wunderbar.                 Nate Goodman (Nato).

Same setup as the old ones just a new motor.

Pulled 11 modern MT Boxcars, Atlas modern Covered Hoppers and an Atlas Caboose with no problem on the level.

The 2-8-0 is one of Bachmann's best steamers.  Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of their sound systems.  Here's a video of my 2-8-0 with an ESU LokSound decoder and an 11x15 "sugar cube" speaker in the tender:

I've replaced all the Bachmann "Sound Value" decoders with ESU LokSound, which I think have better sound, better motor control, and well, better everything.

The decoder is an Economi not a Sound Value.

Can't see much difference between your install and the Bachmann Economi.

Locomotive does everything I want, chuffs and has whistles and bells.

Runs slow enough smoothly.

And just have to take it out of the box, real plus.

Here is the manual:

Ah.

Didn't register that they've switched to the Econami.  That would be better - I have one of those in one of my Kato Mikes, and it is light years better than the Sound Value stuff they used before.  The only downside I've run into with the Econami is matching the chuffs to the driver rotation at extremely slow speed, but that's a picky point that most folks won't care about.

Hmmm . . . might have to try one of these then.

Only found older ones on Hog site. Found them on MBK site, but not much info given there. No mention of type of sound used. Hminky, can you give a link?
 Thanks,

The Bachmann K4 is an "Econami" as well.  i use quotes because it is not an off the shelf econami.  It is Econami components on a Bachmann board.  I suspect it might be the same on their Conni.

Here is the Bachmann decoder (in my tender chassis with an 8x12 Soberton and enclosure):

The Economi in the 2-8-0 has all the features as the aftermarket Economi I put in my HO Oldtime 4-4-0.

Sounds the same because they both have a 15mm speaker.

The K4 has the Sound Value version.

Have that version in the factory HO Oldtime 4-4-0's and it isn't the same.

The Sound Value has limited features and the sound isn't as good.
