Just started to add stuff about my new HOn3 layout build on my SFRSD Blog address below.
I think I will keep my SFRSD blog going and just add new stuff as I get underway, maybe just change the name a bit later on.

Congrats on your new start, Rod, this is exciting! I'll be sure to follow your progress.
I've always had a week spot for 3' narrow gauge, and the stuff available today is wonderful; given your skills, I'm sure you'll blow our socks off.
Only thing I'm worried about is that big red "thing" in your trainroom :D
Have fun my friend!

Thanks Otto and Dave. Otto, the big red thing is annoying however my beautiful wife of almost 52 years has agreed to leave her two year old car out in the street so I can have the RR that I want and still have my toy in the trainroom. Now that is sumthn else.
Regards

Think I might have found my photo post issue so here goes.
Backdrop painted after coving the corners with very thin lamiex type material in a soft dull blue as I am planning model a Fall/Winter time frame (if I can pull it off).
First stages of L Girder went up a few weeks ago and today I started to shape the sub road bed.

Lots more work done over the past week on the L/H/Side with lots of help from good friend by John getting all of the cross-braces and most of the sub roadbed screwed into place.
Today we started to fit the cross braces and layout the sub roadbed into its place above my work bench.
Here are some progress shots covering this weeks progress.

I should be able to get the risers installed on the portion above the work bench over the next few days.

Lots more progress on the unnamed D&RGW RR.
Much more sub-roadbed installed, shelving added, T/T hole cut waiting for that to me assembled and started working on the area for the Y. Pics in the Layout build section.
Having loads of fun.

Its wet, cold 10deg C and raining so I stayed inside and started to construct my first scratch build mine for the RR.
After scanning in some plans, getting to scale up some dims I then set to and drew an elevation of the front wall and then transferred these to some heavy Black illustration board I am using as backing.
I was given some MINWAX  wood finish stain markers by a good friend some time back so I used these to stain each piece of strip wood, yep all 30 pieces 24 inches long on both sides.
Once the elevation was cut out of the board then cutting the strip wood to length I started to apply the wood using Aleenes Tacky glue to the board and this is were I left off yesterday.

Its cold ,raining and miserable outside so more work today, (Sunday morning) on the mine.

Whilst laying track and turnouts I also started to individually paint the cross ties in the town of Gunnison. Track painting has also commenced as this yard was laid using un-weathered ME code 70. Pleased with the progress and look thus far.

Control panels are attached and wired in for Gunnison, Cimmeron and the two mines on the main.
Very happy with the way they have turned out.

Did a bit of plaster work where two of the trestles are to fit so I can seal the area for the Deluxe water to be added later.
Two PSX-AR's are now installed, one for the Kitwood Hills T/Table at Gunnison and the other for the wye at Ponca Junction at the end of the line.

Hand built a #6 Wye over the weekend using a fast Tracks paper template and installed it along with the tracks. Added the track feeders to all tracks and turnouts now just waiting to get the MP5's installed and the control panel wired up and installed.

Looking great Rod! This layout already features some really interesting new ideas from a master model railroader.
So glad you are now in HOn3!

Bit more track work completed in Poncha Junction along with a start on a D&RGW tank.
Pics below. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Stained all the tank timbers before I give it a very worn weathered coat of Depot Buff.
Last turnout made this morning. Just need to add it along with track to Poncha Junction.
T/out motors and some wiring to go then fascias start.
