What is needed for these...
Snow plows...front wedge, dual sided wedge and the shoulder( second lane) plow.
Drop in salt spreader rigs that fit in the dump bed.
Could even use a snow blower/auger.

The W900 needs to be on the tri-axle also. Aggregate companies need the heavy haul frame for over weight loads.

Going by Trainworx's previous record, they'll probably only release few hundred of these. For such a small run, is it worth investing in custom added accessories? 

Sorry, while I think the fidelity of these models is *AMAZING*, their marketing strategy IMO sucks.  Yes, I heard all sorts of reasons (more or less believable) given for all those small runs which sell out in few days, but I still don't like it.

Then you go to Michigan, and even dump trailers are almost solid wheels.  I don't know how they go around curves without wearing out the tires.  I assume the extra wheels are to keep from sinking during the spring thaw?

Michigan has, or had as I've not been around trucks in MI since my 4 month stint out our Grand Rapids terminal in the late 80's, a higher gross weight limit than #80,000.  But you still need to be able to adhere to axle limits.  Which if my memory serves me is/was #16,000 per axle if over #80,000(I don't remember what they allowed gross weight to be as we were an interstate LTL company so #80,000 was our ceiling always) instead of the normal #20,000 for an #80,000 limit. These limits were for combination (tractor trailer) vehicles only too I believe.  Of course there is also the bridge law formulas as well.  In Ohio we have a lot of county roads with weight reductions in the spring but it is a percentage of gross. Usually a 15% reduction from my experiences.  I would be surprised is MI did not have similar restrictions in the spring.

I remember being in Michigan and seeing large dump trucks that were all wheels and they were pulling another dump body that was also all wheels. I was young then, I think they were called 42 wheelers.

That can't be right, I wouldn't think.
In Washington (State), when I decided in my post college years that it would be fun to drive a truck for kicks, the steer axle was limited to 12,500#'s and the combination of the 2 screw axles was 34,400#'s.
The trailer axles, if dualed were also 34,400#'s for combined Max of 80,000#'s or with more axles, the Max loading here is 105,500#'s.
This is all from 30 year ago memory, but the weights on our roads are unchanged.

Ljudice:  For that one I'd probably start by combining a pair of Athearn boxes to get the extra length.

At least here in northeast KY and neighboring WV, there are a few Kenworth and Peterbilt coal trucks, most hauling gravel now, but the majority seem to be Macks.  They're everywhere...  The gravel and construction companies like to run them in small herds, anywhere from two to six or eight together.  Usually they're all painted the same, with the company name on the door, but at least one local company seems to have bought one of every color, and runs them in a group.  Maybe it was easier than numbering them?

Even though gravel is denser than coal, they still load them as full as they can, without the load falling out.
