I'm sorry to anyone local that I did not post this any sooner, but will be spending Saturday at the MER/South Mountain Division, Susquehanna Division, and Mainline Hobby Supply 6th Annual Mini-Con in Blue Ridge Summit, PA.  If you're in the area and don't have any plans, I will post the link for the event.

Way, way back on the Atlas forum, I had at the bottom of every post "Modeling Sand Patch--at least on paper!"   Well, that's shortly to change.  Construction is to begin soon on Indian Creek as a T track module.  Here's a top-down view of the mockup:

And the real thing:

Well folks, today is the day.

There will be a final installment with the last few
"step-by-steps" on this project in the main project thread in a few more days.

But for now, I just need to sit quietly and think about what happened last night
when I attached the bell rope and checked the final item off the work list.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!

That is amazingly outstanding Max!  If you told me that this photo was of an N scale model I would never believe you!  Honest! You are an epitome of a master model railroader!

Well folks, Mad Max @mmagliaro has won N scale model railroading.  Again.  We can all go home now.

Outfreakingstanding, Max.  I don't even have words for that kind of craftsmanship.  Hell, that looks like it could be O scale.

Logged in just to up vote Max.
Never argue with idiots; they'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Absolutely. Rollin Lobaugh himself would be impressed.

...am going home now.... :)

Dave V:  I remember reading scratchbuilding articles in 50s and 60s magazines FOR O scale that didn't involve nearly as much detail as this one.  I'd still like to have a way of sending this back 50 years to show the folks who "knew" N scale would never be more than a "runner's scale".

Runner scale?!
As I understand, back in the '60s and even '70s, N scale was considered nothing more than a novelty toy train to play with.  While there were few rebels who utilized it for realistic operation on fairly large layouts (individuals such as the Reid Bros., or Dick Taylor, or clubs such as the Belmont Shore Club and of course NTRAK), but most model railroaders at that time turned their noses up at N scale.
