Al, the 4090 8-3-1 and the 4084 6-6 are on the list for next month.  I really want the 4084 so I can do the "Poplar Run" in Seaboard shadowline paint!  I just submitted artwork for the plan 3523 6-3 sleeper, plan 3958 14 section sleeper, plan 3979 8-1-2, plan 4074 10-1-2 and the 4060 6-6 sleeper.  In the near future there should be some new parts for Pullman people out there!  If you want to model Pullmans, the time is now.

Scott, no need to wait... Plan 4060 car POPLAR CITY received shadowline paint... for a whole month, from November to December 1953.  Was repainted in SAL TTG in December.

plan 4074 10-1-2

That should be 10-2-1, 10 Section - 2 Double Bedroom - 1 Drawing Room... the 10-1-2 is a 10 Section - 1 Drawing Room - 2 Compartment.

Jerry, wow, a whole month.  Guess I will do two shadowline cars then!  Thanks for the tip.  As far as the 10-1-2 versus the 10-2-1, that is why my wife doesn't trust me when I take down a phone number.

@Alwyn Cutmore trust me @Scott Lupia knows what plans the PRR used. I'm thinking he'll bless us with getting though all of them :)
I was able to finish up my 4 sides but here is a photo of one by the etch. Waiting on my keystone details parts to finish them up.
Cody I gather he would but it is also the number of cars for each plan so that it is just not a one of. It will also be of interest for other modellers as well.
Scott you advice is interesting. I do hope they are also able to be fitted to the Rivarossi Cars as well as I have a bucket full of them. Maybe we can make them a project for the month over at the FB Page.

Al, I didn’t design the sides for a Rivarossi core because they are not as versatile as the MTL cars in their design.  The MTL cars have detachable roofs, detachable floors, detachable interiors and window glazing.  For kitbashinf, that means less cutting. The Rivarossi cars would mean more work.  I will look at it though. There may be a car that could be used as a core. I also have to verify the side length and then Rivarossi car length.  I wouldn’t want to create two sets of sides, one for MTL cores and one for Rivarossi cores.

The PRR will fare well with my choice of sides I offer.  Fear not!

The Rivarossi cars are from a different age and different design philosophy (the original tooling being 50 years old at this point).  They are actually pretty close to the correct overall dimension for a 2410 sleeper, which is 82' (nominal) over buffers.  The other cars used the same underframe tooling, and while there are several styles of roof, they are all interchangeable except the obs. This means the ATSF cars are too short (the baggage and rider car are both rebuilds of lounge cars with measurements a couple feet longer, and the diner prototype was 83' over end sills, so a couple feet longer than that over buffers) and the cafe-obs also a longer car.  The coach is probably a couple feet too long (a 78' prototype)- but that assumes the B&O coach was the actual prototype (same prototype used by MT), and I don't know that has ever been firmly established, it is just the closest common prototype to the model.

The MT Pullmans are all based on 34xx which are a foot longer than their 24xx forebears. MT has taken accuracy several steps further than Rivarossi did, and each MT car (other than perhaps the horse car, which appears to be an 80' SP prototype that was shortened to make it more "typical") is scaled from a given prototype- so sleepers, coaches and baggage cars are all different lengths.

If you REALLY, REALLY want to use Rivarossi cars as cores, you could stretch them with styrene in strategic locations in the sides, roof and fishbelly underframe, or by splicing parts of 2 cars together to lengthen them a bit.  (Do note- if you use baggage cars or combines for this, you can take the leftover parts, splice them together, and get shorter than 80' baggage cars).  But as Scott noted, the MT cars are a more modular design, correct length to start with, and make the process much easier.  If you buy them undecorated, they come in kit form, and may cost you less than the truck and coupler and roof upgrades you would need to make to a Rivarossi car to make an accurate model.

I have no doubt Scott I do not mind the cut and shut to get what I want. It is just that I am not willing to waste a resource being so far from the action.

I get where you are coming from Al.  I just checked a Rivarossi car and they are not compatible with my sides by a few MM.

Rebuilt Pullmans may have the shorter earlier cars with curved end roofs or longer later cars with he piedmonted ends as their "core".    Of course some got rebuilt piedmonted ends to complicate things but I don't think older cars were stretched.
The sides should be designed for either the MT or Rivarossi cars as cores depending on what the prototype was rebuilt from.  There are enough of the Atlas/ConCor/Rivarossi cars around to make it worthwhile to use them when needed.

Right now I am designing sides that fit and use the MTL cars as a core based on reasons I mentioned earlier.

Hi Scott

As I said I do not mind a cut and shut. width, length height what does the difference mean. Not a lot in the scheme of things. Just keep moving forward and we will figure out the rest. Plenty of reference material out there these days. Especially with the ability of John to do roofs and other bits. Great work that is to be admired.

The new batch of 6-6 Piplar sides have arrived.  I will be listing in the KV Models eBay store soon as well as putting them up on our website.  I am also going to start a thread for this over in the Product Discussion forum since this has now shifted from a kitbash thread to more of a product oriented thread.
