I just finished installing a Loksound Select Micro into a friend's GP60. Turned out very nice I believe although this was a pain to work on!

Looks good but I'm waiting for a 6-pin drop in version of the ESU sound decoder. Would be nice for the FVM GP60/ES44/SD70ACE series.

Even if that was offered, will it fit?  Sound decoders are quite a bit longer than the non-sound ones.

I hope that the purple wire I see soldered to the two Capacitors coming from the ground side of the decoder!
Normally the purple is a AUX function wire?

When I do mine, if I'm not using the aux wires, I'll use them for the cap. Purple for positive, green for ground. I'm guessing they did something similar.

You are correct, it is the aux wire that I moved for the Caps. I use a little bit of the remaining blue wire for positive and purple for negative.

To remind myself that it is a ground wire, whatever color I use, I add little black stripes, with a Sharpie, along its length.

Well I for one use the correct color wire for each and all connections. I have all colors from different suppliers so I can have a choice of the size of wire too!

Where do you find *ALL* colors of thin gauge (30AWG and smaller) insulated stranded wire?  Who is the supplier? You found those oddball colors like black with white stripe, and other multi-color insulations?

If you want the small size try ESU wire. Soundtrack services wire too. TCS has wire too in two gauges  The oddball colors, I save all cut offs from installs. After doing this install work for over ten years I have a BUNCH!
I don’t like opening up a locomotive and Finding that red is not the right rail.
Makes for hard trouble shooting.

I agree that standardization is a good thing. I just hoped that you found some source of those hard to find oddball color wires.  I have probably 6 different sets of multicolored wires from various DCC manufacturers. But only the standard colors.

Do you have it in something like 10 foot lengths?  I'll  have to check which specific colors I could use.

About the only colors that are odd are the striped ones-black-white strip- green -yellow stripe-there is one more striped one but I can’t recall at this time.
