No, I said "Ed's Law."

Relax - your up-votes are coming!  I can only give you one.  Imagine - my separately-applied grabs rant observation has been immortalized!  I must unknowingly belong to some secret Railwire clique! Or is that a click?

Russ, your grabs look ok to me. That was the whole point of this thread: manufacturers that install free-standing grabs on their RTR models seem to install them sticking out too far, make them too thick, or both.

Right...the point I was making is that free-standing grab irons in N scale can and do look good if the right sized wire is used, if they are straight and if they are mounted the correct distance from the surface. This was in response to another reply that made it sound like free-standing N scale grab irons looked too large and distracting.

@chicken45 , I find it surprising that you are referred to as a lowly "some guy in the RW art dept", and not "Sweet Beef the Art Master"??!?!??!!?

Yes, that was a pre-production photo, but as I see it, most separate factory-applied grabs exhibit the same problem (in case you missed it, I took photos of a standard production model proving the point).  :RUEffinKiddingMe:  Your posts griping about this type of discussion are getting pointless. Now I could use a  down-vote button.  While I don't like to say this, I will now: if you don't care for this discussion, don't read this thread. You keep complaining about it which means that you keep on reading it. Well, if it annoys you, skip it.

I'll just respond that 1) I agree with Reply #2 on Page. 1 and 2) I don't read a lot on RW much anymore because I can't seem to find a thread where the "noise" isn't every other comment.

I just look for the comments that interest me, yes even some of the noise, and ignore the rest.  Life alone is just too damn serious to worry about letting someone else's opinion bother me.  This tactic allows me to read as much or as little as I want or need at a given moment.

I found the noise makers!

That is exactly what makes TRW fun to participate in. After all, noise-makers are used at fun parties, and visiting TRW (without down-votes)  is just like going to a fun party. When attending a party I don't mingle with all the attendees - only the ones I like or find interesting.  :) :D :) :D :) :D :) :D
