I'm behind Bachmann products, it's easier to push them down the track that way! In all seriousness, I would be cautious at best. You get what you pay for...
I wouldn't get too excited... though light years ahead of the old Bachmann clunker. Looks like they plan to offer it with sound. Fuel tank is an epic fail though! Spy pics:Mark
OK, lets look at this from the other side. It seemed that every store I went into before Christmas that had small-scale train sets had Bachmann. How would this be as a train set loco, for a beginner? The 1974 version was tough and reliable, even if it didn't look quite right. Would somebody getting one of these be tempted to stay in the hobby, or give up and look for something else?
Good point. Assuming the drive isn't 💩, it would make a decent "train set" locomotive for someone that doesn't want to make too large of an initial investment.A GP40 is also a better choice for the younger market, as most kids have never seen the proverbial "effunit" that comes with most train sets. Even if they haven't seen a GP40, they've probably seen another GP38/40/-2/rebuild that would make it more appealing to a younger buyer or recipient.
What's going on with the step down at the hand brake? Looks like all they did was bevel the corner not even attempting to model the step.Jason
Isn't that what they did with all their other diesels?
The GP7 has a step.Jason
