So Paul, did you buy it?

Thanks for the extra photos.  Maybe they will help show what I did.

Well, this is exciting and unexpected for me.

I responded to Stu in Australia, and it looks like we will be able to work something out to get the RF&P GP35 ph 2 to find it's way back home.

Yep.  I seem to recall getting a pretty good deal, too!
I can probably find it, if you want more pix, but most of my stuff is still packed from the move.  One if these days I will have to get busy working on the layout.
Regards,
Paul

Ah, this is starting to ring a bell now for when I considered attempting to adapt the LL trucks to my SW1500 bashes (will scale-width hoods) that ride on those Concor/Kato switcher drives. I realized there would be the need for the slots in the side of the frames for the lugs on the LL truck towers to stick thru (as pictured above) and I thought the scale-width hood from the Atlas MP15DC would not allow enough room for the tower lugs on the front truck to swing freely, although it was going to be close (I'm assuming there's also a slot on the front under the shroud thingy?). In the end I decided to go with the stock trucks with grafted-on Flexicoil sideframes.

@u18b Ron, do you still have any U18 resin parts left?  I think I still have some, if you want them to facilitate increasing your fleet. If I remember correctly, the body, walkway and fuel tank were workable.

I have been waiting 15+ years for Atlas to make a U30B or Intermountain to make the N scale U18B. I acquired some Kato U30 parts before the re released it and have made most of a shell and handrails, and have thought about U23Band B30-7 parts but the idea of repeating the process 10 times makes me keep hoping for Intermountain to come through. Always enjoy your work Ron.

I have heard that Intermountain was disappointed with the sales of the HO U18B, so I doubt they would do them in N scale...

If we could just get some resin long hoods(like the ones I got from Ron), I would sacrifice some whole U23Bs, since the parts for them are near impossible to get..

Or, someday, I'll cut up the 2 U30C shells I picked up to make a couple more of these...

And , yes, a U30B would make this so much easier :|

We got home from grandma's house.... and did some digging.

We found three more locos I have built and sent out into the world..... but have no personal photographic record.

These three appeared in N-Scale Mag articles back before I had a digital camera.
So the slide for these locos were submitted with the articles, but never returned to me (I like the modern way of doing it!).

So these scans are the only remaining record I have of these.
They are all custom painted stock Atlas/Kato GP35s.

I really liked the B&O because it had ghost lettering.

That brings the grand total to somewhere around 75 children over a career of about 31 years.

One day I may post the children I have decided to KEEP.   8)

I have been late and remiss in not posting this.... but here it is.

One of my children went and stayed for a while in Australia under the watchful loving care of Stu.

Stu and I worked out a trade, and one of my children has come home.
And to be honest, in MUCH better shape than I was expecting.  Normal wear and tear happens in life, but she looks exactly like I left her years ago.

Thanks Stu!

This is a phase 2 GP35.  Lots of changes went into this kitbash including thin walkway, new fuel tank, jacking pads, dust evacuator dome up top and a low small radiator fan.

This is the way she looked in her prime.  Unfortunately, when CSX got them, all of the heralds were removed, looking pretty drab.  I may keep this one as-is.

And thanks again Stu for your kind and generous offer to acquire it back.

Ron,

I was fortunate enough to attend the University of Richmond from 1988 until 1992, so I was able to railfan the RF&P in its final years.  That paint scheme on your GP35 is my favorite.  Don’t you dare change a thing on that beautiful model.

What a great thread this has been so far.

Looking at that GP35 makes me think that is the nicest looking of all the low-nose 4 axle EMDs...  :)
