That's what Hanks Truck Forum is for...

Sure, but since the research was already done by the manufacturer, why not simply provide that info in the product description.   :| I would rather waste time on this forum complaining about down-votes  :)

Just to be clear, the last sentence was a joke . . . I think.  :)

Talk is cheap...

Have you ever ordered anything from Prairie Shadows?

Unlike a few other e-commerce sellers, my pre-orders from Prairie Shadows arrived on schedule, without any advance deposits, exchange of credit card information, or shipment shortages.

Jeff Arnold (of Prairie Shadows) is a pleasure work with and talk to.

Kudos to a fairly small Canadian company that trusts its customers enough to custom order relatively expensive products without any kind of a financial commitment from its buyers.

Point taken and no, I've never had any issues with Prairie Shadows.  I'm just still stinging from my most recent dealings with pre-orders.  Keep in mind, however, that if stuff is being made in China, the retailer here has little to do with product arrival dates.  Maybe Prairie Shadows has been lucky so far or maybe they are working with a very reputable company in China that produces stuff in a timely manner.  Either way, like I said, I've not had any issues with Prairie Shadows.

Given we're talking about Trainworx and not IMRC, I wouldn't have any issue pre-ordering these.

I got a screen grab of the TW flyer

I for one, had a pleasant experience ordering from Prairie Shadows. I ordered one each of the 007, Arnold, and reefer trucks just before they were all gone. Shipping to the US was $14. Well, by a couple of hours later, I was kicking myself for not ordering the dry van, too. So, I placed another order for one of those and just to make it worth it, added another of the 007 trucks. Plus, another $14 for shipping. Out of the blue, I got an email from Jeff saying he noticed I had 2 orders and combined them, refunded the second shipping charge. Got the whole package about a week later and was very, very satisfied. Kudos to Jeff.

I'll agree with you on sharing information pertaining to the trucking companies.  It seems to be harder to find out company history, etc on trucking companies than it is railroads.  It would be nice if a quick note on era and area served was included on each tractor trailer listing.  I'm sure folks in Canada probably have better knowledge of these companies over us in the U.S.   I know I've heard of a couple of them from being in trucking from the mid 80's to the early 2000's.  But I have no clue as to their service areas etc.  I guess an email could be sent to Prairie Shadows to get some info on the era for these models.

This. The basic rule of convincing a consumer to act, say on an impulse purchase decision, is to remove as many barriers as possible. Knowing if I could find these rigs in the PNW during the early 70s would probably have resulted in a purchase. But if I have to go to Hank's Trucks I will get so caught up in all sorts of shiny objects I'll need to take a nap and forget about the PS offerings completely, and make no purchase. C'est la vie.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

That's what Hanks Truck Forum is for...

Hanks trucks gives the date on the picture and sometimes where . Sometimes more info , a hit and miss deal .

The manufacture will have to step up and share the info requested here before I will shell out big bucks for these . I don't know if pmpexpress is a spokesperson for this offering but I am getting a bad taste in my mouth , I will go brush my teeth and see if that helps . :|

Hi everyone,
I recently joined the forum and look forward to meeting new people with shared interests.  I wanted to tie up some loose ends on the new run of truck/trailer sets.

My plan is to provide more information on them for era and area of operation but I haven’t quite there yet.  I put the models up a few days ago but hadn’t planned on making a formal announcement until I could provide some facts.  I’ve been fortunate to get some great support speaking with a couple people about them but the momentum it brought was unexpected.

Research has been harder for these than modern projects. We found enough pictures and spoke to some industry veterans to create accurate art but nailing down precise eras hasn’t been as easy because of the overlap when longer trailers came into the mix.

Long story short: additional info will up soon.  I didn’t think leaving it out for now wasn’t intended to bother anyone.

Thanks,
Jeff Arnold

I don't have time to look right now but someone should PM me and tell me why everything is downvoted.

I've had nothing but superb service from Prairie Shadows...

One observation - these are the basis for an Ice Road Truckers module!

Why?  this is just another example that this system is really not working as intended. Looks like members ended up up-voting bunch of posts to nullify the bad apple's votes. Well, except for my earlier post which is neither inflammatory or untrue still has couple of down votes.

I don't remember seeing any of these in the Northwest in the 1970s.  They may have been there, but I don't remember them.  Anything with an air deflector or penthouse sleeper is too modern for my railroad, but they are nice looking trucks.
