The plate girder supports the track, and the truss significantly strengthens the plate girder, allowing a larger span.  I’m not an engineer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.  :P

Painted and weathered the bridge...

Looks really great (seriously). Only question in my mind is the background photo, which looks like flat lands. The Appalachia I know doesn't have flat lands.  :D

Adding pilot detail to the F unit....copper wire for the air hoses. If I don’t like the way they look after painting and weathering I can easily remove them.

After contemplating the best way to do coupler lift bars, I went to the scrap box for this formed wire. Not great, but sufficiently representative. However, when I put the loco on the layout, this wasn’t even visible from the normal viewing distance. It’s barely visible in the previous close-up photo above. I’d say most viewing the photo misssed it.

So this tells me not to bother with it in future loco detailing efforts. It also tells me the copper air hoses will be sufficiently representative after painting. I was also contemplating adding it to freights cars, but now know it’s not worth the effort

About 7 linear feet of nearly finished scenery....

Just catching up on this thread but you really nailed that cedar--  Those guys just pop in the winter months and the color is perfect.

Detailed Bachmann F7 ready for weathering after I replace the air horn.  Started with the NS F7 on the right

I'm not much of diesel fan, but those F units look sweet.

If you can't make it perfect, make it adjustable.

Looking good! I really like the idea of F units switching a mine run too. Good thing it was probably still 5 guys!
