These just came in at our shop.. the first one I opened up was BNSF which has those funky A1A trucks and the extra cylinders were all out of wack and looked like they would bind truck movement around curves...Otherwise they look amazing!.. (and the other models looked great.. no issues with the trucks on those.. )Anyone else have this issue?~Ian
So my only complaint is the sound file has too much bass in the prime motor resulting in poor sound quality since such a small speaker can not reproduce this effectively (It cuts off as others have mentioned) The prime motor sound in my Lok select micro I installed in my FVM ES44 sounds a lot better. Has anyone done anything to improve it? Swap speakers, sound files? CV settings? Thanks!
If you have a LokProgrammer you can change the sound file to the other GEVO T4 they recorded. I did that in a couple of my units and I think it sounds a lot better. This newer recording sounds like the amount of bass rumble is causing clipping in the original recording. If you listen to the file on the ESU website you can hear it. Couple that with tiny speakers and it isn't ideal. It also sounds like they did this recording inside the hood - potentially part of the reason the air compressors and such are so pronounced and loud (I also adjusted volumes down for those as well). Just remember that if you replace the sound file, you'll want to read the existing decoder settings into your program file first and save it. Then re-write the sound file. Otherwise the lighting functions and such might be a bit off from the factory settings.Lastly, you can run the ESU CV54 automatic motor tune (or whatever they call it) and the loco will run at even slower crawl speeds.- j
Much appreaicated info, unfortunately I do not own the Lok programmer. At least you confirm that the issue is with the file itself and not the speaker.
I really wish this was in my era. These really look great. The only question I have when they announce the C39-8... Should I get ALL of them?
those TSC's really do look way better, but for those of us who like switching ops they are still not a solution . . .
