Shapeways: New FUD Prices In Effect

Most FUD items in all stores should be cheaper today with the re-pricing now in effect...

I haven't looked at everything, but my stuff is all substantially cheaper....

The smaller the model the greater the price reduction...

Mine are old models.  They show the new price and the old price but the old price is greyed and is crossed out.

Ah when I go to models and choose FUD or FXD they show the old price, but if I click on the model and scroll down the price list they show new prices. 2 HOn30 flatcars joined together as one whole piece are now $12.53 in FXD instead of $25.72. I just uploaded this last night.

2 separate steam loco boilers and cabs (with lots of support) New $44.37, old $47.26.

4 loco cylinders/saddle. New $13.39, old $27.54.

Guess this makes me happy :)

It's just the part count.  That for my coupler pockets, it's got 40 parts (20 pairs).

Most of my files have multiple duplicate parts to over come the material fee.  I just need to redo the drawings and have them rechecked.  Just not sure when I'll ever do that.   :P

This is the 2 flatcars I uploaded last night. I just bridged them where they could easily be trimmed.

My models benefitted greatly. About 84% went down in price (after optimization), some up to -50%! I had to modify over 100 models to get the parts count down with sprues and shackles.
Some examples from my shop:

The N scale workshop interior details -40 %

10 N scale IBC’s  -40%

12 Boom cabinets -30%

SMD-fittable traffic lights -20%

Hello,

We managed to lower over 1000 prices!

Here are a few examples:

Overview of our cars: https://railnscale.com/

Also our popular tools could be reduced in price. Again a few examples:

A couple questions for the designers from a customer-

I've noticed that the FXD prices also changed on some products I've been following- is that site wide, or just a coincidence?

Also, I've read on a couple threads that there had been some dimension issues with longer objects (for instance, a roofwalk or underframe) that Shapeways was working to resolve. Have they found an answer? I have been looking at some replacement roofs, and want to be sure before I spend as much for a roof as I spent on the car, that they will fit without modification.

More generally, is FXD worth the extra cost?

I've always been a bit perplexed by Shapeways naming the materials "backwards"- ultra should be "more better" than extreme.

And thanks to all of you who are making these detail parts and products available.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

The Shapeways naming nomenclature followed the manufacturer's regarding the ProJet 3D printer product line — HD for high-definition, UD for ultra-high definition, and XD for extreme-high definition. UD followed after HD, and XD after that, as printing technology improved.

Accuracy on the rendering of long items is contingent on how well the printers are calibrated.

If there is a lot of small intricate detail on a model, then FXD is worth the additional cost. At this point, there is little difference between FUD and FXD cost-wise.

The selling prices for the consumer also dropped, as the mark-ups are based off of the cost.

Anyone following the "Ready to Paint" finish supposedly coming to FUD?
