Since there are no locomotives or decals for the A&BP, and I really like the SOU, who took over the NS Ry., I'll probably use a SOU locomotive for the branch line.

http://donsdepot.donrossgroup.net/dr656.htm

The overall paint scheme is one solid color and there is no herald, just letters, numbers and an ampersand.
Using individual decals (or dry transfers) for the lettering would be tedious, but perhaps someone could print a set for you?

I'm certain that I would never be satisfied with a locomotive that I painted, because I cannot get the quality that manufacturers offer.  However, that could be rectified in this situation by modeling the earlier paint scheme for A&BP No. 896:

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1887653

Since it's clearly a former SCL GP7, take an HO model of an SCL GP7 and just remove the lettering.  Then, make up some decals and voila!  But, I really have a thing for black, imitation aluminum, and gold Southern Ry. locos, so we'll see.

Thanks,
DFF

Any interest in a Fairbanks-Morse loco?

Dave, you could always contract the work out. There is plenty of custom painters out there.

There are some pieces of rolling stock that I owned in N scale that I really miss in HO.  For example, my patched Seaboard System transfer caboose No. 11111.  It's a former Clinchfield caboose still in the Family Lines scheme.

This poor little N scale caboose didn't have anywhere to run anymore, except for riding around on this HO scale bulkhead flatcar, which just wasn't cutting it for me anymore.  So, I saved up and bought "The Super Sizer" brand enlarging ray:

A quick zap of the caboose, and . . . BLAMMO!  It's all grown up!

Now to get it off-loaded.  This makes me happy.  :) :) :)

Impressive aim with the rebigulator... A man with lessor skill would have wound up with an O scale flatcar!  :D

Or a dangerously large, well, you know...

Speaking of, can you bring that thing over this weekend if it has a reverse switch?

Just look at the last line of his signature (I coined that moniker).  :D

However it appears that his daughter is the sane one. See https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=42410.0
