So what you're saying is the N scale trees you built all those years ago are smaller than the HO scale trees you need now?  Well there's a mystery!

Really digging how this is coming along.
Lee

Ed and I agree that trees are much taller than most modelers realize.  I used the big stuff out of those boxes to build the N scale trees, and those trees were of a size that most people would have used them as HO scale trees.  So, since it's been a few years since I built a tree and there was still material in the boxes to make decent-sized trees, I never gave it a second thought that I was working out of the wrong boxes.  I didn't even remember that I kept the old boxes of leftovers.  So, the HO trees that I'm building now are not as big as I would like, but, to most modelers, they'll be sufficient.  Looking back at the photos (since I'm not at home), I'm guessing that those trees behind the trestle are thirty scale feet tall in HO.  Not bad.

Thanks,
DFF

Current status with the addition of more trees to the left of the trestle, hiding the entrance to the Seaboard Central’s staging yard.  I added some kudzu that’s climbing some of those trees.  The kudzu is still soaked in a diluted white glue mixture, so what glue is still visible will hopefully dry clear.

If that's not a signature scene then I don't know what would be. Great work!

Thank you, Lucas!  It's been a work in progress for more than three years, but I'm seeing results.  Finally.  I have a lot of work left on the rest of the layout, though.  Track, wiring, and backdrop are finished, so mostly scenery and fascia is left.  I have several buildings to finish, and, of course, I must start weathering the fleet at some point.

It's beautiful.

But That tree line is still too short ;)

Sure looks like NC in the spring to me!  My three springs in the Raleigh area gave me some terrible allergies but they sure were pretty...

You're right, and you know that you and I agree on tree heights, Ed.  Once I crack open the new SuperTrees boxes, maybe I'll redo those trees.  Or maybe I'll leave them as forced perspective.

Thanks,

Been following along since the kudzu invasion. Your scene has developed very nicely. Looks most excellent.

I'd consider this. I think it totally works as-is, and if you add any more foreground trees, you can make those taller.

Depending on what comes out of the new SuperTrees boxes, that is what I plan to do.  You may have noticed the bare spot in front of the trees at far left where the kudzu doesn't go.  I want to put a couple of taller trees in front of that tree line to add to the effect.

Thanks,
DFF
