Thanks!

I picked up one of the NYC NW2's... For $49 how can you go wrong?

I need another switcher like I need more yard to mow, but I consider their S4 to be a pretty good runner.  It will be interesting to compare this to the Kato PRR NW2 that I have.

And I just spent all my allowance on some decoders.

Those are some seriously good prices though!

How are the GP7's? Like the CNJ one. Don't see the S4's listed. :(

They run fairly well.  I have one under an @randgust CF7 kit.  Still need to mill the frame for a decoder but it handles nicely along my DC test track.

I've got two of the Bachmann GP7's... Great runners!

I have a couple of those and while they don't have a lot of time on them, so far they perform very nicely. 8)

.......another UP vote for the GP-7 and FM roadswitcher.  I run mine on DC and they operate well.  The slow speed control is excellent, even on DC.  Unlike many locomotives with the so-called, alleged "smart" decoder, it is not necessary to give these two extra throttle then scale it back.

I did manage to fry one of the decoders on DC, though.  I have done that to more than one B-mann decoder.

Will the Kato NW-2 shells fit on the Bachmann chassis.

I have plastic frogs and was wondering how the response through those was with GP-7.  Dc control I might add.

Should be fine Kirk.  Most of the frogs on my layout are unpowered and the Bachmann products (including the GP7's & RS3's) go right through without stalling or having their headlights flicker.

Received the NYC NW2 yesterday... Just as you said... It handles nicely!

Very smooth runner!  I use mine in DCC mode.

And the yellow on the handrails and such is accurate.  I cringe when I see the yellow that Lifelike/Walthers used on their SW8.

Tks for your reply Michael.   I  have the H16-44 and it stalls at slow speed on frogs and is a growler.    Maybe the latest offerings from bachmann run smoother.  I find I have to keep my track pristine in order for even atlas engines to run good.  Tks again
