I would think that a Raspberry Pi +JMRI combination is what you would need to integrate this system together with block detectors. As long as everything talks through the JMRI interface it should be workable. I too would like to see the manual posted - I like to see how everything goes together before I pull the trigger on a purchase.

Very interesting development.
As the LED's in the signal are normal LED's I would expect that existing driver boards could drive them, although, you wont get the change of colour features that the web site suggests that their driver board can drive.

I thought David Cutting of CESM Models was a member here? At least I thought he had posted here before.  :|

Yes. This is the thread that seeded this idea.

I tried e-mailing the address on the website and it bounced back so hopefully @dcutting will notice this and share some info about the decoder manual.

The other question I had was to confirm if the 560ohm version is what is recommended for the LEDs they supply.

He posted announcement over on NSN last week.  I sent him a message letting him know there is some discussion/questions over here.

Hi Everyone,

I apologize for the lack of any kind of formal announcement over here on the Railwire. The 560 ohm version is indeed recommended for my signals, and it should work on just about any other LED.

If you go to my website, scroll to the bottom, and click support there is a manual for the assembly of the signals themselves. I am, however, not ready to release a manual for the signals themselves. I expect that pre-orders will actually extent to June, and I should have a manual ready in another few weeks.

Control for the signals will need to be done in JMRI or whatever other program you have. BTW, I'm also developing a DCC++ HAT for the raspberry pi that can replace a 5A DCC system and also has a programming track. Details on my website.

The controller board will be able to control searchlights, color position, vertical heads etc and are configured through programmable CVs.

I have a few prototype etching sets left (6 or so) and I can put together some samples in the next few weeks for anyone who is considering a large scale implementation of the signals. PM me if interested.

Thanks,
David

I wonder if the SP/Rock Island style tri-light signals could possibly be made now? IT would just have to have three LEDs isolated for each hole in the target back for Red/Yellow/Green.

Would love to see this type made...  just don't know how much of a demand there would be for such signals.

That's the beautiful thing about 3D printing, OSH park, and PPD. No matter the demand, it is possible.

I'll probably be cutting off orders around June 15th.

David, I don't think you ever confirmed...  If intended to work with your signal heads, one should order the version of the decoder with 560ohm resistors?

Hm, must have missed that question . If you want to use the decoder with my signals, please purchase the 560 ohm version of the board. If you have signals that run on 5V (pre-installed resistors), then you should use the 0 ohm resistors. If your signals are set up with resistors for 12v, you will have to remove the resistors and use the 560 ohm board.
