Since I paid no attention to the SD40 announcement, am I reading this right, if you buy the DC version you can still upgrade to DCC with the decoder at a later date? Or even upgrade to sound?

Resurrecting this long-ago thread with a small update. I asked the IM representatives at the Amherst show about the 38-2s and they said they were focusing on getting the final run of this set of SD40-2s out the door, then they'd turn to the 38-2s. For what that's worth.

They are a bit slow getting these out, I already have a couple of SD38-2s and SD39s from many years ago
