Well that is promising. The road number matches one from the flyer of the first announcement.

Looks like Athearn has a steep case of Intermountainitis.

And...didn't Athearn say that the China problems didn't affect their factories?

That's what I was thinking as well.  It would be great is manufacturers would let us know if any new factories have been found, etc.  I know that they don;t want to tip any hats to their competition but I believe that they know who is using who overseas.  I just wonder what the status is now with everyone??

There is a TRW thread abotu the factory closure, and IIRC, most manufacturers found another factories to manufature their products.  Of course there were some logistical issues (like moving the tooling, etc.).
Here is a fairly recent update from Rapido Trains in their newsletter #107.

As I was leaving China the LRC factory was well into Royal Hudson production and was doing colour tests for the Tempo and RS-18. The factory is growing and looking for one or two new customers, so if you are a mid-sized model train manufacturer looking for a better factory to make your stuff, please give me a shout and I will put you in touch with Colin, the LRC factory grand poobah.

Just seems this was a ripe opportunity for some entrepreneur to step up and get a consortium to support a new factory in the U.S.A.

LOL!  We go through what you just mentioned (bring manufacturing back to USA) fairly regularly here , but it just ain't happening (and won't happen). If you search the forum you will see the reasons why (and also why some manufacturers, like MTL, are pulling it off).  Those explanation come from TRW members who are industry insiders and model manufacturers.

I saw that.  They're getting as bad as Intermountain for slow deliveries.

Sure, are you offering to sign on as an investor?    :D
