I take the knife right into the store. Tell the cashier it is all one piece.  ;)

Thanks for the responses and suggestions guys. The only reason I didn't want to use the knife was because I wanted the perfectly straight edges, but I'm quite happy with the 4X8 now and somehow managed to fit it in my Chevy Cruze.

So in my adding metal wheels to the newly added rolling stock I decided to pick up the Fox Valley 36" with the .576 axle length as they're going on Atlas PS 2960s( I've tried the .553 axles and they're way too small). Of course they were too big and wouldn't turn without pressure, so after getting frustrated and putting my now useless wheels away, I noticed these:

They're 100T BLMA truck sets that I'd completely forgot that I had! So now everything is metal wheeled again and I've found my BLMA trucks again so I'm super stoked. I just need to see if Atlas will keep selling them so I can stock up more on them.

They were in stock some time back and I managed to score a few; wish I had gotten more, but I'm sure they will restock.

Alright, finally getting some progress going! First, I took one suggestion I received a while back and added a crossover to the industrial area, then decided to put in a few loco storage tracks. Of course the pics I took were apparently deleted out of my phone... I also hooked up my Ecos and had a lot of fun with it!

Then I decided it was time to permanently mount the track plan and really start building the layout. Over the past few days I've been tracing the track plan and finally finished it, then dismantled the track so I could draw the centerlines.

After that was done I started on the centerlines to assist in laying the roadbed, here's where I stopped for the night.

Hopefully I'll be laying roadbed tomorrow!

Finished the centerlines on the coal mine lead, the coal mine, and the loco storage area!

The new ones should be, I uploaded the last 3 directly to the forum. It'll be a while before I get to the old ones.

More progress tonight! I finished all the centerlines and started roadbed.

Hopefully more will be done tomorrow, and eventually I'll figure the easy way to do roadbed at turnouts!

Was able to lay a little more tonight.

Here I did a little in the yard, on the siding by the yard, and on the main by the yard.

Here I did some in the industrial area and on the main near it.

I still haven't figured how to do the turnouts, I'm hoping someone will chime in and show me what they did.

I do what you have done so far for turnouts. Just fill the rest in - take a piece, butt it to one of the tracks then mark/cut the roadbed to length with a knife/razor blade on the diagonal. Lay out, mark and cut the second piece and glue them both down. don't worry about it if there are little gaps, as the turnout will cover it up. You'll find that you'll be able to fit them in pretty tight. I always save the cut diagonal portions as many times you can flip it over and use to fill in other locations.

Okay, quite a lot was done tonight(for me).

As you can see, the main(on the yard side), the interchange track, the yard siding and lead, the yard, the coal mine lead, and the engine storage tracks are all complete, minus filling in the turnouts. Thanks to some good advice and a little fiddling, I'll hopefully be finishing that up tomorrow and then moving on to the industrial areas.
