The old "Russian Decapods" had problems with self-guarding frogs as well, as many roads regauged them to standard gauge by using wide tires.

The ones I saw had the wheels pushed in while the drive rods stayed "out there". Here is one the Erie got at the Brier Hill roundhouse. Looks like it was just delivered as it doesn't look American yet.

I like how @Ed Kapuscinski has framed the @Lemosteam bridge pedestals front and center, dangling in mid air.

Product placement, product placement, product placement.  He gets a small royalty.  Very small.  :D

That's just how good those shoes are!

Aww, shucks...

Nice. @bbussey Are those Keystone Details vents on there?

@chicken45 - The white vents are Keystone Details.  The black vents are milled from the MTL RPO roof.  More progress posted in the next Weekend Update, also being documented daily at http://www.facebook.com/BridgeportAndNewLondon .

@Blazeman

Then the question becomes how long the operating session will be (including the pizza break )?
And how busy the yard will be (will have to do a lot of pre-blocking)?

In addition I have to keep in mind that several of my operators travel 80 miles each way to be with us.
At what point does the danger become shifting from being fun to being work???

Not that far for me, but I was shocked last month when I looked at the odometer and it was 55 miles from your place to mine. But definitely worth it. I know guys who travel a more than 80 miles almost monthly to sessions.

I know you want to adhere as close to proto as possible on your trains. Did PRSL for instance ever run passenger specials say to AC Racetrack or to N. Phila station for Phils or A's games (admittedly weekend trains)?

Alternate version:

He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

I bought a Kato Atlantic Coast Line F2A and F2B this weekend and completed decoderizing them tonight.  They're running really well and haven't even been broken in yet.  These will be for my dual era of 1958 along the ACL.  I also ordered an ACL M-5 caboose from Shapeways.

To help set the scene, I also put my BLI ACL E7 and a small passenger train on the rails.  That's right, we're running my small but growing purple and silver fleet tonight!  Now, if I could convince Atlas to paint up some GP7s in the purple and silver scheme.   :)

Pictures tomorrow night, since I left the cell phone at the office.

As promised:

Now, if I can just convince Atlas to offer their N scale GP7 in ACL purple and silver.  "Cory, why hast thou forsaken me?"   ;)

Chris333:  Yes, some roads regauged the wheels and used longer crankpins, and apparently your Erie was one of them.  Others left the wheels where they were, and installed wider tires, so the outside of the tire was where the Russians wanted it, and the flange was where we needed it.  That meant the inside of the tire was actually behind the back of the wheel, which must have looked very strange from an inspection pit.

Well, yes, but those are really old, non-DCC ready, and have unpainted handrails.  I'm hoping for an update to Atlas quality of the 21st century.

Thanks,
