I know I've been flogging it around all week, but I've done a bunch of scenery work on the NCR.

I spent this past weekend out in Pittsburgh, sight seeing cool railroad stuff. While we didn't shoot a TON of trains, sometimes quality beats quantity. This includes an amazing chase of the Union RR's B&LE transfer job. Pics soon.

Got another cheap hollow-core bifold at the ReStore, and painted up a gloomy fall sky...

And started working out the base for the second photo diorama I'll be needing for the Mike McGrattan train...

It's all coming together, @rickb773! The center cab is now complete - a light weathering and cab windows have been added. I also finished-up a trio of PRSL P70's using @Lemosteam's 2D-P5 trucks and P70 steps. Once the PBM70 is done, I'll have them in the mail to you, Rick. Hope you like them!

Well, now there will be a passenger train or two on the next ops session I'd think. Or a "special" for some reason to supplement the RDC's.

@Blazeman
The center cab Baldwin RT264 will haul the Philly to Camden transfer, as it did on the prototype.

After finding a 1954 schedule, I have added the Millville "Sand Hog" and possibly a Salem local.
That makes 12 trains, (6 each way), without the passenger service.

1954 commuter service was 7 trains north in the AM and south in the PM.
I doubt I can get all that in (maybe 3 each way: 2 RDC pairs and a VO-1000 trailing P70s).

Then the question becomes how long the operating session will be (including the pizza break )?
And how busy the yard will be (will have to do a lot of pre-blocking)?

In addition I have to keep in mind that several of my operators travel 80 miles each way to be with us.
At what point does the danger become shifting from being fun to being work???

Getting closer to completing the diners. In the process of adding various roof hardware.

Lee, Ed and Dave nice stuff. No modeling this weekend, I lost my best buddy Montana, our
13 year Pomeranian and it was tough. I will creep back into it. He loved watching me work on the
layout with our female, Sabrina who is now the lead girl.

Very realistic Ed . What are you using for the sky , I see no shadows ? The scenes and the sky look misty/foggy .

My most since condolences for your very painful loss.  The older I get, the more difficult it is to recover from such a loss.  I don't know what I'll do when Mr. Tibbs (Lhasa Apso) leaves me.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

The sky is literally just some (poorly painted) white hardboard. It's the remains of the back of an old Ikea bookshelf that didn't survive the move.

You can see it here:

I'm planning on adding photo backdrops, so I'm not too worried about the finish.

Oh, and the haziness? That was my scratched up old lens. I've since replaced it. Well, at least that's part of it. The other part is that I've intentionally overexposed the white backdrop to get that very effect.

Ed,
Looks good can't wait to run some trains through the scene.

I like how @Ed Kapuscinski has framed the @Lemosteam bridge pedestals front and center, dangling in mid air.

I bought a Kato Atlantic Coast Line F2A and F2B this weekend and completed decoderizing them tonight.  They're running really well and haven't even been broken in yet.  These will be for my dual era of 1958 along the ACL.  I also ordered an ACL M-5 caboose from Shapeways.

To help set the scene, I also put my BLI ACL E7 and a small passenger train on the rails.  That's right, we're running my small but growing purple and silver fleet tonight!  Now, if I could convince Atlas to paint up some GP7s in the purple and silver scheme.   :)

Pictures tomorrow night, since I left the cell phone at the office.

Randgust:  Thank you!  I can understand the wide treads, as that would help keep it over the rail on curves.  I hadn't heard about the problems with self-guarding frogs, but it makes sense.

The old "Russian Decapods" had problems with self-guarding frogs as well, as many roads regauged them to standard gauge by using wide tires.
