FVM Intermodal

It's about to get crowded in the intermodal area in N scale. From the Fox Valley Models Facebook page, pictures from the National Train show setup:

Quote from: Fox Valley Models
Last news from the show floor - FVM is producing a new Intermodal series in N Scale. Already tooled are 6 versions of 53' containers. Under development are a few more 53' containers, well cars(s) and various container chassis. First road names on containers to be announced soon. Watch for samples of the car and chassis this fall/winter. Have a great weekend everybody!

(Sorry, it's a FaceBook link...)

I don't want to get my hopes up, but based on the artwork in the background, it would appear we're finally getting a Wabash National Duraplate container, perfect for those mid-00 era onward JB Hunt fleets. And that would make me very happy...and broke.

Excellent!  Just like their GEVO campaign all over, as I speculated a few months ago.  What an embarrassment of riches!

Yes! I'm glad the manufacturer has been publicly revealed and we can have a proper discussion on these now.

I'm less interested in the various CIMC ones shown in the ad, but at least the Stoughton and Hyundai X-Posts will mean a lot of the container varieties and roadnames for the 00-10 era will be covered now...especially if that is a Hunt can in the artwork.

Does that look like a gunderson 48' well car in the artwork? M

So does that mean they decided against doing ACes?
Was really hoping for some A&M units...
But the 53' are needed so again no complaints...

Not affiliated, just linking to show that indeed FVM did the ACes but they've also announced A&Ms.

Mid-2015 release... It's now mid 2016... Look FVM is the new intermountain...
But yes I knew about them

Great news.  I guess companies are seeing great potential for sales with intermodal items and we are the beneficiaries.

They're catching up with the times, I suppose.  The half of the railroad news that isn't about the downturn in coal and oil is about new intermodal yards and infrastructure upgrades to make intermodal faster.

LOL  Actually, the text on the Facebook picture says it's all 53' containers and wells. ;)

Yeah, FVM has been affected by backups for about 2 years.  They keep saying lately on their page that things are getting better now.  I hope so.

Excellent, love that FVM is jumping in.  While it seems "crowded' in the modern intermodal space, there are are major gaps which I hope FVM fills.. I think Gary put it best, that having 1 type of modern intermodal well car, is like having 1 type of box car...

The smaller manufactures have been nailing the modern N Scale market over the last several years. Trainwox with the 53 trailers, FVM with the Gevo, and BLMA  (prior to being bought by Atlas) Only notable exception is Kato with Amtrak.

This photo of the 53' containers was posted to MR (thanks Roger Holmes for the link in the other thread).

The intermodal gods smile down upon the populace from high atop their golden container thrones.
Wallets hide in fear, 401K plans suffer, wives will be lied to, bills will be neglected. Middle-aged boys go to bed tonite with visions of mile long stack trains making track speed around huge as yet unbuilt layouts. Some even see these trains pulled by huge turbine engines, while others cry out, "But I need Tier 4 GEVOs and SD70s for these!". Ah yes, all is well with us modern modelers.

Is the Duraplate the same as Schneider used?
