Does anyone know of any manufacturers that make (and sell) round covered hopper hatches as separate parts?

I'm guessing Micro-Trains. They make a 3-bay ACF centerflow hopper with round hatches (car body style # 93000).

Give 'em a call and ask.

Hmm... I called and asked
if they had termites, but
they said no...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

There's a few options for hatch covers but you have to know a couple things.  First is whether you want Pullman Standard hatch covers or ACF.  The PS covers have the signature 'bow tie'.  The ACF hatches are more of a 6 pointed star.  Second is size, but must hatches are for 30" openings.

You can get ACF hatches from MTL (I just did a couple weeks ago).  You can get PS hatches from Athearn but I think it's part of a bigger parts set (but not 100% on that).

There's another option for the PS covers...me.

I made these to replace the hatches on the Atlas 2-bay.  The Athearn parts will be much cleaner due to the FXD, but mine do have the advantage including the tapered opening included with the hatch.  I have some pictures of the parts I received  if you're interested.

Intermountain has several covered hopper kits that have round hatches.  You might give them a call and see if you can buy the parts.  My experience with them in the past is that they aren't always fast, but they are accomodating and friendly.  I bet they can help you.

I asked about the availability of round hatch covers at the end of March and was told they didn't have any at that time.  Maybe now?

I had the crazy idea of recycling an old Precision Masters 4740 into a MI 4740...
