Look and Layout Page
« on: April 30, 2016, 11:16:48 AM »
Can anyone tell me where the "Look and Layout" page is found. It does not show on my "Profile" page.

Do you mean:   https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?board=20.0   ?

Tom Todd

No.
I was told by Tom Mann to go to the "Look and Layout" page to adjust the time settings on my posts. I don't see this page anywhere.
Someone else also suggested that I have to make a minimum number of posts before I can do this.

This might not be very intuitive.  When you hover over the Profile button a menu drops down automatically. Well, you still need to click on the actual Profile button (not on any of the menu items).
You should end up here: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?action=profile

Then, on the left hand side (under Modify Profile) you will find the link Tom mentioned.

BTW, my time offset is set to 0 (auto) and it works fine.  It probably adjusts to the time you have set on your computer.

I tried to walk him through that and he said all he saw there was "Ignore Topic Options"

As I said in his other thread I believe a lot of the customization requires passing the post threshold...
but I'll leave it to the mods to confirm (and move/merge the threads)  ;)

That is very odd. This type of setting is basic functionality, not be something you earn by posting messages.  :tommann: was already involved and didn't mention minimum number of posts is required.

Here is a link which should get him directly to the correct page:
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?action=profile;area=theme;u=1781

BTW, this type of question is best asked on the Administrative section of this forum.

The link you provided takes me to my profile page which other people have also sent me to including Admin.
Could the problem stem from the fact that I am using an iPad Air?

I don't know the exact links others gave you, but in mine the "area=theme" part of the link shoudl bring you to the specific section which has the time setting and the "u=1781" in that link is your Railwire user ID which should again get you to the right place.  If that link didn't work then I would think the problem is with your computing device or browser.  But whatever it is, at this point the big kahuna :tommann: is taking care of you.

I don't know how I thought to click on this, but in my browser (Firefox, Windows) there is a double arrow button way to the right on the profile page that I needed to click.

I never would have thought to look for these options if not for this thread.

I also run a Mozilla-based browser in Windows and I don't see that arrow.  Are you saying that unless you click on that arrow you don't see any of the buttons on the left? No "Home   Help    Search    Profile    My Messages   My Bookmarks   Members    Logout"? I also don't see that arrow when I click on the Profile button and I'm viewing my profile.

No, I always see all that.  What I didn't see until I clicked on that arrow was "Profile Info , Sumarry , Show Stats, etc.".

Try clicking the double arrow right next to Profile Info and see if you see what I saw, and why the 'Look and Layout' page was totally hidden.

All of this applies to the Profile Page.

Ah, now I see what you mean.  In my profile view the links on the left side were visible by default.  And as you said, if I click the right-pointing arrows next to the "Profile Info" line, I was able to make all the links on the left disappear.

But even if those links aren't visible, if he clicked the link I posted earlier ( https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?action=profile;area=theme;u=1781 ), he should have end up at the right place to change the time settings.
