Given past performance, I think there is at least one manufacturer willing to paint an N scale model that thing in Warbonnet and sell it for $169.95.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

working on my city scene and made the retaining wall with strips of wood, then covered with a can of textured paint.  trying to simulate a rough wall look.

the only thing I am wondering is about the color of the tunnel portal

and then there is an overview

any comments are welcome

Pretty darned effective representation of a heavy stucco, if you ask me. Nice job.

Looks great. What brand of textured paint are you using. I am not sure if I can get it locally. I am trying to get the same effect on my wall. I have been using very fine "sifted sand" in Tamiya paints. My photo does not show the texture very well but it is there.

the paint is Rust-oleum.  My Lowe's was having a clearance sale on canned paint and there was this one "caribbean sand" and then I got another one called "Rustic Umber" each at 2 bucks instead of 5.99 each.
Have not tried the umber one yet but looks interesting.  The sand one came out ok.  Very weird spray pattern to it, but i laid it on thick the first pass. it was windy outside when I tried this, and yes there is a strong odor of Acetone!!!!   I'll dull coat it because it is a bit shinny and then put some foliage growing up the wall.
Not happy with the portal color, just to harsh in contrast, might hit it with the caribbean sand.  not sure

Puddy, just want you to know how much of an inspiration you are to me. Hang in there!!

Finally finished something between work schedules and a bad bout with the flu, Rock Island 1269.

Looks like you nailed it...

Mike, that Geep looks great too!!!  I have always liked the BSB scheme over the many variations of the orange and green.  My first exposure to GN was the EMD F45s and some custom painted Lima N-scale FP45s at the Original Whistle Stop.  The shop had post cards of the F45s which made the models look so very good way back when... (1970).  While I also like the full orange and green scheme on various units BSB is my favorite simply because it was the first GN scheme I ever saw and for traditionalists I make no apologies (funny how certain paint schemes of various roads tend to spark our interests more than other schemes, though had GN not gone with simplified paint the orange and green scheme easily could have become a stronger contender).

Mike, Bob, thanks for sharing those great shots of Geeps... it is appreciated!!!

Hope you're feeling better soon, Mike. It's always great to see your work. You are an inspiration ... and not just as a modeler.
