Would any of you shapeways designers be interested in sketching up the Santa fes dynamometer car no.29  for me?
I've had a few failed attempts at building this one from scratch so this where you 3d painting gurus can come in! Any takers? I have some plane on my laptop for this car. I know Otto and a few other guys here would be interested in picking one of these up!

 Thank you

I don't model the ATSF, but I'd buy one.

Looks like a tough crowd. Lol
I have an idea for a new method of building this so I guess I'll pick up some materials tomorrow to take on the road with me this week. I'll post up progress later.

Any scale plans would increase the possibility. It is a unique car.

There are exterior and floorplan scale plans available on the link he posted.

I would estimate the CAD work on this model to be about 50-75 hours after reviewing the drawing.  Closer to 50 if the trucks are already available.

Please bear in mind that this is time away from someone's real modeling, family and other obligations, not necessarily in that order.

I have found that since there is little profit to be made, and an even smaller audience that "needs" the model, it is not worth the time, without some form of compensation.  At 50 hours of my time, I doubt that anyone is willing to pony up.

"Ford the love of the hobby" is not compensation by the way (and yes I have had someone approach me with that)...  :D

The things that I have currently modeled are things that I need, so if someone benefits from that great, otherwisa I simply cannot justify the time without compensation.

What's your rate Lemo? Maybe I'll just have to get sketch up and try this out. Guess I need to study up if my next attempt doesn't work.

My good, but unfortunately late friend, Chris Lane of Tempe AZ, scratched one of these close to twenty years ago and it was an amazing model; it even had screens on the windows as I recall. It won a first prize at a Santa Fe national convention (with mostly mostly HO guys voting :o)
I miss Chris and wonder what ever happened to his beautiful and unique model....

Hopefully this attempt works out Otto. If this one works and is easy, maybe I'll make you one Otto.

There's a gentleman who kitbashes and scratchbuilds incredible cabooses and sells them on eBay. His seller name is martyscustom. I don't know if he does custom work, but the dynamometer car may be something he'd be interested in creating.

I have a Santa Fe widowmaker, an IC side door caboose, and a Rock Island caboose I purchased from him. You can see his sold models after logging into eBay at <http://www.ebay.com/sch/martyscustomn/m.html?LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2046732.m1684>

Here are a couple of recent examples.
