The Atlas gon can also be reworked into close-to NH prototype with correct number of panels:

Where did you get the decals?

OldEastRR:  Here's a quick "grab shot".  Sorry about the blur, but I literally grabbed the camera and snapped the picture, no tripod.

I painted the underframe green, to match the car.  It would be less visible if it was black, if that's a consideration.

This is an old car, painted who-knows-when, and lettered with Walthers decals, so it probably dates from the 1980s.  I lowered it last night, and did my other similar car, a newer stock MILW model, today.  Today's took about 10 minutes, since I knew what to do, and the screws were easier to remove.

Where did you get the decals?

MicroScale set 60-1436 Freight Cars (various cars, transition era markings). I pestered them for gondola decals until they decided to make this set. Ironically, none of the decals are specifically made for gondolas, but with a prototype photo you can assemble a decent version just from the set.
Before that, I had to use the NH Caboose, Freight Data and such to letter a pre-McGiness scheme car. Which is why I asked MS to make a freight set.

In another amusing episode, I painted and decaled a UP tool car (for the KATO excursion set) using 4 different sets of MS decals. Then I wrote up a little piece on how and sent it in to MS-- and got back the  answer that they had just drawn up a single decal set for that car!

I'm only slightly ahead of my time ...
