We have a first time visitor to the layout. My Daughter Liliana will be 4 month old on the 17th and they say it is never too early to start them. She loved watched the trains go by.

Small update for me this week can be found on my layout engineering report https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=27866.msg453016#msg453016

And a short railfan video.

The group of BCR cabooses and locos got their silver paint the other day.  This one is Scott's.  Now just a few touch ups and onto the metal parts yet to be added.

.... and it's never a bad idea to start with a board and space width joke.......

For the little layout my son and I are building we need a couple of background buildings for switching - he wanted a martial arts company so....

"SIDS" - named for the first initial of his sensei's and him is a manufacturer of martial arts products. Inbound loads will be mainly boxcars, as will outbound loads.

I used brick styrene for the walls with various window castings and roof appliances. It's a background building so it's not complete, showing only the back side of the structure.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I decided I needed to make some of my old hand-built turnouts more DCC friendly. These two are #11's that have been in service, on and off, for 25 years... time to update some other details also...

So this will be a "shallow" weekend update?

Dog sitting for a good friend. She out her 4 point harness and ran into the roadway. I dived  after her and was nearly hit by a car. She wasn't so lucky. F*cking guy drove away. I was close enough so I know he must have thought he hit me. Accidents happen but I'm really upset that he didn't stop.

Spent 6 hours at the emergency vets. Looks like he will make it but she's in rough shape. She got spun directly under the tire and hit hard enough to take half his bumper cover out. Friends now have to fly back from Thailand.

I feel terrible.

Yeah I know not train related...

So sorry, Daniel. Heartbreaking. Good luck and best recovery to all.

Working on trees this weekend. Not an abundant natural source of tree armatures
growing wild in OK. Trying Gypsanthia or baby's breath from Hobby Lobby. The rattle can
primer grey is too thick and shrinking and bowing those natural branches. Probably need
the cheaper 99 cent a can grey. So the test trees look like pipe cleaners, the adhesive is
getting on the branches and the grass flock is making them look unnatural.

One idea is to hand paint most of the branches gray with bottle acrylic paint and then affix
the shake. Spraying only from the top (spray adhesive).

They don't look bad once they are in line and on the layout. Any thoughts or ideas from crew?

Wow, very happy to hear you're ok and that the pup will eventually be fine... did you get a make and model, plate number, colour of the hit and run...? Anything at all to help the authorities catch this piece of excrement who didn't stop...?  My cop buddies are rather fond of nabbing those gutless types that hit and run; sure your local LEO's will be too..... Hope everything turns out well for you guys.....

For my HO layout, I found some time to work a little bit more on my station. The roof line on the towers were a little tricky but that is the nice part on laser cutting, you can redo it until it fits. The next step is to cut all the pieces out again and glue them nicer together to check for perfect fit. There are still two more building to the left and right but those are more modern building (early 1900s) and they don't really are that complicated.
