Oh, OK. They seem almost white, and very smooth and even. At least in that photo. That is why I asked.
They represent the rolling hills of southern Pennsylvania. In the distance.
Not much accomplished due to travel and work, but I have been enjoying playing with my new lens and lighting set up.
Doug, no one knows for certain it seems. I've heard several theories: partial repaint after a wreck that damaged part of the bridge; lead in the orange paint that caused an environmental backlash during the repaint; or CN is cheap and stopped painting it at some point (that is my favorite ). The orange is a color they used on many bridges, so I assume it was a top coat.
