Kato UP Excursion train items

Nobody seems to have mentioned, but the UP Excursion train and water bottles are back in stock at the usual suspect places.

Also, I don't know if that has been mentioned before, but the power car and "Kenefick" business car are available separately from Kato on their "Parts department special offers" page.  Not cheap at $30 each, but if you just need one then it might be the way to go.

Now if they would just sell the body and not the complete model I might be able to get the parts I need...

I'm surprised they did not include the tool car (Art Lockman), crew car (Howard Fogg), and baggage car (Lynn Nystrom) in the initial release of the excursion set. All three use current tooling.

Just thinking out loud here: Maybe because the book-type case Kato for their sets can only hold 7 cars?
This is a 2nd release of this set, or a 2nd run  (seems to be the same as the initial release).

For those of you wanting to do your own tool car, start reworking whatever stock 60' box car you want ... Microscale is coming out with the set of correct UP markings for the tool car. They also printed my article on how to make the set out of various MS sets. (What was that old cliché about make one then some company will produce it?)

I seen that, but keep hoping someone will do a correct 65' box and the correct trucks. Honestly I don't care if they don't have the end doors for the modified 9336, but I would pick up at least one for 9336, as well as for UP 24364.  With Custom Model Trains running the UPP 3008, I'm hoping they will do the boxcar to get the correct consist.

On a related note, anyone want to guess as to when Kato will announce FEF's in two-tone gray and freight service black?
