Lots of new product.

UPS 40 foot trailers are in, along with more 4 bay coal hoppers, body mount conversion kits for other brands hoppers,  and more.

Get em while you can.

Question about the UPS trailers. Are they strictly an 80s-90s era or are they still in use? I see 4 versions with concupicity striping.

You made it sound like there were so many new products that it crashed the website.   But no tractors or the FedEx trailers yet.

Oh no, it's payday and the 40' are in. I believe, for a mid-90s Mail3/4, I would need the non-striped versions, correct?

I sent Pat the photos for 3 of the 4 trailers in conspicuity stripes.  The trailers were on intermodal rail cars in Nampa, ID in 2000 and 2001.

If you go to Google Street View of the Spokane, WA UPS Customer Center you will see a 40-foot drop-frame trailer with United Parcel Service lettering.  https://www.google.com/maps/place/UPS+Customer+Center/@47.6660864,-117.3126982,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x549e21d8b9edd423:0xd44ed7f98b193ffb?hl=en

While this is not the exact same paint that is on the new release of trailers, the Google photo is dated October 2011.

UPS generally did not apply the conspicuity stripes until a year or so before they were required to.  The retrofit requirement date for trailers built after before December 1, 1993 was June 1, 2001.

However, the color stripes on the noses of the trailers disappeared well before the conspicuity stripes were required, so this would be the trailers appropriate for the 1990s:

UPOZ-80862
UPSZ-86280
UPSZ-86414
UPSZ-86459
UPSZ-86943

However, I am not seeing this group of trailers listed on MBK's website.  But they do show as "In stock" at Trainworx.  http://www.train-worx.com/40parcel.htm

Edit:  There should be one more road number for the "plain" 40-foot drop-frame.  Trainworx part no. 40144-43

Thanks, I actually saw on Trainboard that the red and yellow were gone in the early 90s. I ordered the later ones. It's the one between the two that MBK doesn't have that I guess would be era appropriate. Oh well, it's a pass through at 40-50mph anyways so, eh,

What are the 4427's on BNSF used for in recent times.

I presume they are not in unit train service, but for smaller loads of specialty grains???

Or refused their products to be sold via MBK . Deceptive subjects lines make searching harder , wastes time for some that would have not bothered if UPS trailers were in the subject line . Comes under the title Bate and Switch , to get more look see hits .

I agree -- we should always try to keep the thread title relevant to the topic discussed -- not just here, but across the rest of the topics as well ..

While this doesn't directly answer your question, here are some links I posted on a previous thread to proto photos of the cars Trainworx announced.   Will give you some idea I think.

They will appear in unit trains to fill out the numbers when they run short on larger cars. I see them in Durum Wheat service and sand service too. They are a very versatile car.

Ok, now another UPS question.

What's the story with these, with the red "nose" vs the ones with the red "stripe"?

Nose: http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Trainworx-N-40144-36-40-Parcel-Trailer-UPSZ-p/twx-40144-36.htm
Stripe: http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Trainworx-N-40144-37-40-Parcel-Trailer-UPSZ-p/twx-40144-37.htm

Nose: http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Trainworx-N-40144-36-40-Parcel-Trailer-UPSZ-p/twx-40144-36.htm
Stripe: http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Trainworx-N-40144-37-40-Parcel-Trailer-UPSZ-p/twx-40144-37.htm

The red 'nose' - which features a thick red stripe around the bottom and sides both front and back, as well as the top in the back - is an earlier paint scheme, appropriate starting around 1971.

The red 'stripe' scheme, featuring a more understated stripe on each vertical corner only, is later and dates to approximately 1977, and is generally more appropriate to the '80s and early '90s.

If you're trying to be prototypical and your era isn't later than 1976 then don't buy the 'stripe'.  If your era isn't earlier than 1985 or so then don't buy the 'nose' unless it's going to be that last straggler among many others that are newer or repainted.  If your era covers in between then a mix is appropriate.

That's based on the photos in my collection that I've tagged so far.  Others might have more specific knowledge.
