That CSX SD40-2 looks pretty good except for one thing.  Its still got the wrong trucks... :(

Or the wrong number series.

I was going to applaud IM for painting the window gaskets, but the. I realized the real UP 2966 had the gaskets painted to match the body. I do like the pilot mounted ditch lights and the grab irons.

I may get a couple to convert over to SD40Ns. Maybe we could talk someone on RW into making us a set of etched metal handrails for these... I have my doubts the factory ones would survive a complete teardown.

The raised porch on the UP SD40-2 is prototypical on some of their engines. I'm impressed that they modeled it.

The picture of the prototype speaks for itself:

What's with the raised portion of the front "porch" on the UP SD40-2?

I think that unit has been manhandled and is not completely set in place.  If you notice, the handrails going to the sides of cab are out of kilter.  Back side is out of hole, front side is skewed up.  Also notice, look at large gap just above the red stripe and bottom of yellow cab.  And here is photo from FB page when painted samples arrived showing same unit, no raised porch is apparent

And on the CSX unit below, you can see where there is a distinct line is same area of the "raised porch", just above the top step/yellow safety stripe.

Any photos of the Conrail units?

No Conrail units on hand.

And yes. The units were really mishandled by the public.

Ran trains at Trainfest on about 11 scale miles per lap on N scale Modutrak layout, and spent a little money too.

Forgot this one from my cell phone of Keith's Milwaukee Lakefront Depot which was not in place when I shot the 3 photos above. It fills most of the area of the 3rd pic behind Mat J in the orange shirt

I figured that was the case, but why are those "seams" located in such a counter-intuitive location?

Skibbe corn V1:broom straw cut to length and "frayed" for lack of better word, then PAINstakenly planted

That looks pretty good, and yes, painful!
