trying to figure out a nice tight way to keep the switch thrown,  the N scale code 55 caboose ground throws just don't cut it for me, so experimentation

this is the way I ran my turnout control and ran a wire to layout edge for caboose ground throw, using Radio shack part 275-0007, have fun with radio shack, but i found similar on ebay.
the switch throw is exactly the same as turnout throw

here is a shot of caboose throws on edge of layout, note brass tube going under cork bed. with internal wire connecting to turnout throw bar, just make sure you set everything>center< thrown while connecting caboose ground throws.all rail is code 40

That's a nice looking turnout!  I did my switch controls the same way as you, i.e., by slide switch.  In fact, by the looks of it, you used the same slide switch as I did.  Mine are from Radio Shack.  They work great, look a helluva lot better than the Caboose Industries' ground throws, and are very durable.  However, you may want to test the placement of your slide switch, because it looks closer to the rails than mine are.  Make sure your overhanging equipment clears the slide switch as it comes out of that sharp curve.

Here's an example of mine ballasted in place:

one more, i used decoder wire to power frog from side rails, note bottom 3 post are soldered to pc tie, and top three are for power control, code 80 rail slotted to fit switch and soldered up side down to throw out bar. If you want to see more let me know, i have to upload to bucket first.

That is one very looking stretch of track.

Very clean build and equally nicely installed. I'd sure welcome a few more photos of your track.

selfie stick shot

engine service is dismantled while i work on building to right of it, so it looks a little bare down there, but with selfie stick i could never get this angle.
10 track staging is under this yard

Great modelling!  What is the track spacing , track center to track center, used in the yard ?

Notice the "selfie stick shot" with in the yard are standard track spacing, exact numbers i don't have my notes, but the engine leads to the left side are just eye balled and "flex tracked" other words most of turnouts are flex track designed, and a template is made from them, then turnout is constructed. i will be posting a thread on this process cause i have a turnout in mind i want to do. but as far as how large the yard is. the room is 16 feet long so yard must be around 8 feet but yard track stubs are 6 feet that's 2 code 40 flex tracks for each yard track, the biggest kicker in this work was trying to figure and calculate how much quick sticks verses how many pc ties i needed, oh yeah that was fun, but the quick sticks using spray adhesive was a very fast way to lay done code 40.

Mastertech, thanks for your version. unfortunately I do not have enough room on the edge for the caboose throw, so that's why the experiment
Davefoxx, yes they are radio shack switches.  I am trying to solder the switch to the tie to hold it in place since this is being sunk into 1 inch pink foam. I have to file the plating off the switch body in order for it to grab solder and stay put.!!  :x   I did use .030" wire and drill a .029" hole in the switch to make it tight, but the wire is beginning to rock side to side just in testing this system.  I will epoxy the wire to the switch and see if that helps.  How did you mount you switch and throw wire
thanks to all
Miguel

doubling the hill in the snow

Beautiful scene Mark!  This area would look great on a Christmas card.

Modeling the L&N, well at least a few times a year.
