I would think they would start with a diesel since steam is more complex as a first project. I think Intermountain and Kato have the F and E unit market fairly well covered.

They would go ultra modern with a genset but I think they might want something that covers a longer era.

I'd like to see a GP50, GP40X and SDP45.

A switcher would be nice...CF7, MP15AC, probably some older stuff?

What else might they already have some working knowledge from their previous work experience that they could turn into a unique N scale product?

I'm surprised the speculating has not started as to what those locos, freight cars, and vehicles will be.

GP40X would get my money.   I think that and an SD39 might be the only things left that I 'need'.

Yeah but those two are pretty narrow when it comes to being able to offer multiple road names. Hopefully they use the 6pin DCC plugs to make it an easy conversion.

More Steam Please.  :D

I'd like to see more transition era stuff, mostly diesels from some of the lesser known manufactures. I'm a sucker for oddball equipment.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if one of the locos was a K4?

I'm feeling the same way in regards to this. That and the fact the press seems to be coming from the MRH/TM side of things has me leary of anticipating too much,

Why does MRH/TM press make a difference?  Just asking.

Me too. Even wishing them best of luck (China pipeline and all that) and anticipating quality, with rolling out HO and N product plans together, I'm somewhat concerned about a repeat of ExactRail, where they started with focus on product far out of my modeling era. Then when they finally got around to nice stuff in my era I would want quantities of, they're discouraged that N's sales numbers just don't correspond to HO's, relegating N product development to a polite "we'll see".

I won't speculate on what they might be making because we don't even know if they'll be making any N scale announcements any time soon.

One thing I've been curious about is what is "museum quality" in regards to model trains?  So far the Scaletrains blog is touting tri-color class lights, illuminated instrument panel and rotating bearing caps, none of which have anything to do with the quality of the model IMO.  I believe my dad's Lok14 Nn3 locomotive was described as 'museum quality' and it's gorgeous, but I couldn't tell you what makes it 'museum quality'.  I would think to be able to claim something like that, it would need to meet some sort of requirement and not just that it could go into a museum.  Not all museum models are all that great.

So is 'museum quality' a real thing for mode trains?

If you drag your mouse pointer over N Scale on their site it shows this:

COMING 11/14/15

So I am guessing an announcement at Trainfest.

I am also curious about "museum quality" ...
