More from Railway Age on the new EMD Tier 4 locomotive.

Power plant is a 4-stroke (no longer a 2-stroke) EMD 1010.  Based on the EMD series engines, not any CAT engine.

So what are these selling for now days? I can not find a build & price link on EMD's web site.

Given the degree of customization possible on today's locos, they probably don't have a "base price".  The purchaser sends a list of options they want, EMD sends back a quote, and they negotiate from there.

Pre-Tier 4 you'd start at $1.2ish million and go up, these new Tier 4 motors are atleast $2mil starting.
