The Conrail unit has Flex Coil trucks, but it appears to be an HO model displayed.  Look at the coupler on the rear.  The jury is still out if they will do it right or not for CR, ex CR NS units and ex CR CSX units.  Thanks.

Agreed that those are HO models - they have lift rings and I seriously doubt if the N versions will.

Hmm. I wonder if those are HO or N. It's kinda tough to tell.

If they're N, I'm pretty impressed. If they're HO, well, not so much.

It's HO.  N scale models have molded lift rings, and could never have cut levers that fine.  The flanges are also way too small for N.

I think the dead giveaway they are HO, as has been pointed out, is the spring in the coupler.

HO or not, what I find interesting is the CR unit is shown with an (Excalibur) antenna, while the Chessie has no antenna at all. It doesn't matter one way or another to me; it's just a little bit of a head-scratcher about differing levels of detail.

But if these are H0 stand-ins (which usually have more roadname-specific details than N) all those details might not (or probably wont) show up on the real N scale models.

Then these will probably be the 1st ever mass-produced plastic N scale locos with accurate lift rings and free-standing piping between the brake cylinders on the trucks.  And super-thin cross-section handrails. :)

After looking on their site again I noticed pictures of a few other road names and their labeled HO so the Conrail and Chessie must be  Hope they post the N scale pictures at some point so we know what we are buying.

These sure look like n scale to me.  The painted models look pretty good too, nice handrails.

OK, I will play the devil's advocate and ask a question or two and possibly make a comment, so here goes.

Isn't this the same IM Company that some time ago announced factory sound equipped SD-40's  and that to my knowledge have not materialized as yet, I may be entirely wrong on the availability, but I have not seen or read anything about the first run being out, especially all the bitching that will take place when they do come out. I am thinking that a few weeks ago they announced a second run of these sound units and everyone beat them up pretty badly about not ordering any until the first runs were out and scrutinized by all purchasers. Remember that thread, oh it may have been on TB.

Now I see announcements for SD-40-2's and SD-45-2's. So now comes the question. How can everybody get all worked up about announcements that may not materialize in our life time. My bet would be on KATO actually releasing new versions of their 40's and 45's before we ever see IM units.

Not trying to start a war or flame job or criticize a manufacturer. I am just wondering out load.

Yup, and want to say they recently announced a 4th run, and all we've gotten is some preproduction photos, which many say are post NTS so they were handled at the show prior to being photoed.

Who knows when we'll actually see the first run of these, according to their site, sometime this month.
