I'm having some pickup issues with mine. It goes through bouts where most stock brass has better pickup; like distance travelled before dropping power is measured in wheel rotations and on one hand. After an hour and a half or so of breakin, it seemed to be better, only to have the gremlins reappear as I was closing down for the evening. I really don't relish the idea of disassembly and cleaning, but given what the contact on the tender drawbar looks like, it seems a logical step.

Yeah I would say clean the drawbar connection. I don't have one of these (just guessing), but I think the power goes from the tender trucks through the drawbar to the loco frame and then back to the tender via wires to the PC board.

He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Just checked out both of mine and they don't seem to have any kind of problems.  Run fine, no wheel wobble, etc.  I do have a long stretch of track where I loose power which I'll try and fix tomorrow.  Also have to change that weak whistle.  I am a happy camper with these.

Dammit, I'm jealous!  Mine's scheduled for tomorrow.  Oh, and can you scan in that picture of Chuck and e-mail it to me...for later?   :D   :scared:

You'll have to wait until I'm done using it...and the loco, too.

Haha! I enjoyed that. I made it the day you placed your order. Your note made my day. That was funny.

Mine arrived yesterday and I had a chance to run it today.

It's an excellent runner. Nary a problem in sight. No hitches or anything even at speed-step 1.
I'm very impressed. Now I just need to change the whistle over to the 3-chime.

Best Christmas ever.

It's a conspiracy. My mail comes by lunch time. The Chuck Pak was delivered at 5:30. That never happens to me. I never got mail that late here.
