Next up, I've been adding a few different types of bells to my store:

Frame mounted bell: I've always thought the BLMA etched bell looked too flat so I decided to print some up.

Thanks for making the ATCS antenna covers. Lineside details make the scene!

The Clark IT40 Forklift  is in progress but there are a lot of small detail things to figure out before it will be ready.
And as always if anyone has suggestions for simple detail parts I'd be happy to take a look to see what I can do.

That's awesome Alvin - thanks!  No worries about how long it will take - my AFT model is several years away anyway.

Ok, I've got a challenge for ya hotshot...

The "bumps" that are former trainphone mounting brackets on former PRR GP30s.

You can see them on the top edge of 501 here:
http://railfanning.kapuscinski.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/2015-08-22-WMSR-Freight-Cumberland.jpg
and on 2233 here: https://picasaweb.google.com/103328750375507168249/RailroadMuseumOfPennsylvaniaJune2007

They've been mocking me for 8 years now.

To be honest, I'm not sure that the brackets would print well but if you want to try them I can upload a sample for you to try out. It would essentially be a tiny long L - stock that you could cut into small bracket pieces and glue in place.

I personally think the best way to model them would be take some .008 brass strip and fold it into an L stock, as that would give the best scale size dimensions without being overly thick. I bring this up mainly because there are limitations in 3D printing that I can't get around and I don't think you would be satisfied with chunky brackets either.

Yeah, that was my thought too.

Also had another thought: the ball shaped switcher spark arrestors. I'm actually asking for a friend.

Ed, just cut a strip of .005 stryene sheet the appropriate width, probably .015 or so and cut some equal length rectangles, scribe a half etch in the center, fold them, glue, then paint.  Or don't sweat it, they're pretty tiny.

MOW wheels with all those holes in them .

I can give this a try, any idea approximately what size diameter those wheels are? I'm assuming in real life, smaller than 28"

Here is a quick first pass at the MOW wheel, still fighting the geometry over minimum thicknesses on Shapeways.

Could a proper Gong bell for crossing signals be far behind?

That looks great , don't fret over the thickness so much . There is no competition , I have not done as many MOW projects as I wanted to do just because of lack of wheels . These could be used on overhead crane trolleys as well ash pit ramp carts .
