Not to mention ,a heck of a lot cheaper.Almost makes me want to go buy a U-30C.How do you think that would look in Dark Future?  :D

For CSX?

Sorry, none of them made it that far.  (of course if you want to make a foobie, that's OK).

All of them entered CSX service in SBD System paint.

And then one and only one got repainted before retiring.    :(

Same unit, lone survivor was moved to a different road number near end of its life.

Here it is at the end in a dead line.

I have a C30-7 in Dark Future. It works for me .So why not a U36-C.? The C30 was already a CSX unit.I was going to do a second unit but Z scale got in the way :D

Now that all of you have done such nice jobs on your U36Cs, maybe Kato will make one.  Since the same body will work for the U33C, there's plenty of paint schemes for them to choose from.

Greg, Just drove past there on Wednesday. Stopped in at Catalanos over on Main Ave instead. The place has been there since my mom was a kid. Killer sandwiches!

Every time I pass the CNJ freight station in Scranton I cringe because I have to build a model of it one of these days.

Not a U36-C  ,but my version of a CSX C30-7 (the road number is legit). She's starting to show her age so I think I will add a redo to the project list along with a U30-C for company. (Box car logo anyone?)

But first is a layout rebuild. :D

Randy,
Did you use a Kato U30C?

If so, how did you do the handrails since the way the handrail piece holds the walkway piece, I would think that would be really hard.
And maybe even unsteady.

What would you recommend for a horn for EL SD45's?

I don't have a photo right now but when I get back home I will post the pic. I use the standard atlas 3 chime Leslie horn and cut and reverse one of the bells. It's tedious but it works.

Big 10-4 on Catalanos! I try to get a Texas Wiener from Coney Island when I get to Scranton.

CNJ station would be cool. Would you believe I'm looking into building Scranton Station? I think I can pull it off. Still thinking about some of the details.

Greg, I feel your pain on the Scranton station. I have to build it too. So far I am figuring it will be a combination of rapid prototyped and etched parts.

Mike, thank you for the compliments. I have more stuff. I will start a thread over in the layout engineering forum. Will do that when I get back home. Upper Lehigh line sounds like tons of potential. Great choice!

This is my version of a U36C. I did this conversion over 20 years ago by removing the radiators from a the Kato unit and adding the radiators from a Bachmann U36.
I added the air conditioner from a copy of a cast brass unit from a brass loco. I forget whose sun visors they are and the number boards are a bit off as they were put on using individual decal numbers. Then a spray into the Kodachrome scheme a bit of weathering and it was ready for operations on my Santa Fe Railway Southern Division.

Nice modeling Rod, too bad mama ICC took our Kodachrome away...
I like your track work too, nice ballast; is that code 40 on the siding?
