I'd also buy a pair of SDP40Fs, in the original scheme, as they'd be perfect for my 1974 Empire Builder and North Coast Hiawatha.  They'd probably sell better than either the SDP40 or SDP45, and with a few minor modifications, could be sold in quite a few freight schemes.

Personally, even though I model the early BN, I'd rather have them than the SDP40s.

On the other hand, we might have better luck lobbying Athearn for the SDP40F, as they might be able to reuse some parts of their FP45.  There was only a one foot difference in truck centers, and the overall length was the same as the ATSF FPs.  The "Contemporary Diesel Spotters Guide" notes that the MILW FPs were shorter overall than the ATSF, which is a little odd, as they apparently have the same wheelbase.

My parts list was for an SDP40, not the 45, basically why the SDP40 seems more logical than a 45.

That's the way I read it.  :?

How about a SD-45-2?  I'd be in for an EL pair with the big fuel tanks for sure!

But why?  IMRC already has this covered...

   SDP40 had 20 units,8 GN/BN,12 NdeM,not a good seller,or common loco.
  didn't Intermountain already make an SD45-2 ?
outside of sloppy assembly what else was wrong with them ?
  Kato could revisit the C30-7.
or do the MLW/BBD M630/636 series with the M640 as bonus body.
why do all loco models have to be U.S. based ?

Genesis is supposed to be ready to announce an HO SDP40F in the near future.
  maybe at Trainfest  :?
am sure if this is true an N SDP40F will follow it eventually.

Well, on Kato's website they have a video demonstrating their new FEF and GS-4 combination sound card...

I was thinking of rock-solid Kato build quality, as I didn't read many glowing reports about the IM units...

  Kato could revisit the C30-7.

They could, and maybe even retool the cab so it loses the small port windows only found on early C30-7s.

But they won't.

How about an AC6000 convertable?

  Kato could revisit the C30-7.

They recently redid them, now they are DCC ready.

I don't see why so many think the SDP45 would be a poor seller. Athearn has done two runs of them in HO and I think both sold well.

I think an SDP40F would sell well too,  and so would an SDP40.

Maybe it's a retooled RSD7!
