I don't think there is any new tooling, on BLW's site it implies they are just reworked bodyshells from the existing model.

NO. These are just Kobo custom releases.

New tooling is still a mystery.

Maybe if we are lucky it'll be a GP38(-2) and I'll finally be able to get some Santa Fe units since Atlas seems to have a ATSF allergy.... Cause even now finding Santa Fe geeps is worse than finding Santa Fe SD75Ms (in which I still need 207... And 5 others to renumber)...
Sure there's the Walthers one, but I'm not paying $75-100 for one that isn't DCC friendly or at least doesn't have a drop in.... (putting loksound in a P42 has been a headache)
But that said I've got no qualms with the Walthers GP38, they are good runners and look pretty good but the whole DCC "ready" part kinda kills it....
Idk... Just my thoughts.... And prayers for a new GP38-2 (we all know with Kato, Santa Fe will be released lol)

They did but I don't believe I have seen a Santa Fe one released yet... Could be wrong but the one I know for certain they released was BNSF H3 scheme... Idk... Besides I like my Kato's

Talked to the Kato rep, the "new tooled loco" is the ACS-64, or ASC-64...the eurosprinter inposter, lol. I saw the pre production sample. Crappy pictures attached.

As I said few days ago:

Are we really absolutely sure that the new and exciting Kato loco is not just the ACS-64 (and Amfleet Phase I cars) which was announced earlier this year?  I seem to recall this being pondered earlier in the thread but I'm not about to read through 17 pages to find that post.  If it really is yet another newly-tooled loco then I'm surprised that Kato will produce 2 all new locomotives in a single year.

Still chuckling about all the excitement this rumor generated.  As suspected, it was highly unlikely for Kato to produce  2 brand new models the same year.
