New tooled loco from Kato coming....

It would be irresponsible not to speculate:

"We hope that you saw our announcement earlier this month of the new Santa Fe F7 Blue Bonne and Warbonnet paint locomotive releases! We have a few more exciting "older" locomotive release announcements planned out for the coming months, including a _brand new tooled engine_, so we hope you stay tuned!"

Wow!...i'm enjoying seeing older, but very nice releases, re-tooled!...might the E unit bodyshells be a candidate?
the PAs?

New tooling is probably an FT... I mean, why not?

An FA/FB2 would be preferred though...

Well that's clear, unambiguous evidence that Kato is making a K4...   :D

In all seriousness, though, anything new that's "older" (which I assume for Kato means transition-era) is a good thing.

I would be a fan of any of the older B-B GE's, like a U28B or U30B.

older....

hmmm

older than 1950 I assume.

that could be a whole lotta things

a few baldwin switchers I suppose.
all the way back to a 4-4-0.

I tend to think Kato like passenger locos...

any chance they are doing a Niagara?

FT was my first thought too. N scale is becoming like HO, many manufacturers for the same prototype!

I don't think they will tool an FT when two manufacturers currently offer viable units.  I could see them tooling an FA1/FB1 though, given that Walthers refuses to reissue the Life-Life model.

E1 and 1937 Budd Super Chief....

I mean, as long as I am dreaming, I might as well go for the whole enchilada.

I think FAs with 45 degree number boards could fly!

I would think an updated GP50 seems likely. With the SD40, SD40-2, SD45, U30C, and C30-7 all done, I think all that is left is the GP50. Would fall under the "older" section. As far as brand new, I'd like an SD38-2 but I'd be very surprised.
