Oooh, how about an NP nose light for SD45s?

Your wish has been granted. I put them in beta because the walls are a little thin... they should print fine though.

Next up is a set of northern pacific EMD SD45 nose light packages.

This is a set of eight Northern Pacific nose lights for the SD45. N Scale (1/160)

To install, soak in Bestine for 15 minutes to remove waxy support material. Cut hole into nose of locomotive and adjust to fit part. Glue light into place with CA. Install 1 millimeter fiber optics to complete installation.

If I knew it was gonna be this easy I would have asked for something a little more substantial, like an SDP40.

Funny that you mentioned that particular shell - I was thinking the same thing. But I'm not sure if the 3D printing quality will be good enough (for me), plus the cost of that size object in FXD will probably be couple hundred dollars.  Bryan Bussey's Scenicruiser bus costs $50 in FXD and is is much smaller than SDP40.

This DD35 shell is $75 in FXD.

Shapeways pricing is determined by production aspects like cost of materials AND designer profit margin.

I could do that one, but right now I am focusing on other things. A mexican version is here:

You could probably convince the designer to add the ratchet brake...

+1 for the thing of C&NW beauty that Sirenworks posted.

Here's my personal "wants" list, all involving the Ann Arbor… I know some others who would be on board, too.

DT&I/Ann Arbor GP35 noses with nose headlights to fit the Atlas/Kato/Atlas/China model. The AA units lasted many years under TSBY (when I took these photos) and were still running fairly recently for GLC:

PA100005 by Pete Doolittle, on Flickr
PA100004 by Pete Doolittle, on Flickr

I'm guessing "plain" GP35 noses with nose headlights would probably find an audience as well. Atlas/Kato never did them* and I'm certain a number of the schemes that have been released over the years should have had them.

Here are the noses as requested... I made both that you said.

This is a pack of two EMD GP-series nose featuring a nose-mounted light and bell, as displayed on some locomotives (esp. ann arbor). This nose is designed for the atlas GP35, but with some modification will fit other locomotives too.

Next up is another nose light... this time the SP nose package with the warning light removed.

To install, soak in Bestine for 15 minutes to remove waxy support material. Cut hole into nose of locomotive and adjust to fit part. Glue light into place with CA. Install 1 millimeter fiber optics to complete installation.

Shapeways pricing is determined by production aspects like cost of materials AND designer profit margin.

Since the Scenicruiser is a BETA items I wouldn't think Brian would have set it up to make profit (since he wants people to order them and provide feedback).  But it is a body shell, full interior' and wheels. Maybe the material volume of all those items is about 2/3 of what a volume of DD35 would be.

And also keep in mind that I am selling my 3GS21B and TEBU shells for $55.99... not too bad.

Oh, keep in mind everyone that tomorrow is the last day for free shapeways shipping.

Hi David,

I have some of your stack and hi-ad trucks coming my way, looking forward to having a play with them!

A couple of ideas for you...

How about a 1GS7B? Just the long hood (which is a shorter version of your existing genset model) would be fine for me, I can bash the cab.

I'd like a C39-8 cab to swap-in for the Atlas C40-8 (see http://thecrhs.org/Information/C39-8-Technical-Information?q=ConrailSurvivors/Locomotives/GE/C39-8) - while there are myriad differences between C39s and C40s, the cab is the most obvious and all my attempts at bashing the headlight & number boards have gone pear-shaped.

If you're looking for a challenge, look at modern gondola covers for concentrate loads like those manufactured by EcoFab http://www.ecofab.com/standard_rigid_cover.html
There are a LOT of variations in style, such as this selection captured by Stan Lytle:

http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=58755
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=55192
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=62700
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=58757
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=51425
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=59600
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=59601
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=69550
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=69614

http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=62698
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=70000

...and if you produce each variation at the right width and length for each 50-52' gon produced in N scale (e.g. Athearn/MDC, Atlas, MTL and Trainworx) this could expand your product line significantly!

Edit: forgot one: how about some frames for the refrigeration assemblies on 53' domestic containers?
Plenty of examples on Matt Hannes' intermodal container page at http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part3/53foot.htm (look under refrigerated boxes), including:
http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part3/images/creu532351.JPG
http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part3/images/creu532528_view1.JPG
http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part3/images/creu532528_view2.JPG
http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part3/images/creu533229.JPG
http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part3/images/creu533229_front.JPG
Con-Cor has usable 53' smooth side containers (qualms over the rivets aside) and BLMA has the refrigeration units, so all that's needed is the framework surrounding the unit & fuel tank - yes, can be scratchbuilt but Shapeways offers precision that I couldn't achieve over multiple models.

Hmmm... will this work to make a CB&Q GP40?

Just to be sure - that's your FUD price, not FXD, right?  Just curious since the other items being discussed were all printed in FXD.

Regards,

Brad.

If that Ann Arbor nose with the bell is in full relief it will require modifying the ATLAS/KATO chassis for clearance. That nose in HO for the KATO GP35 would be cool too.Or maybe just the bell and the housing that could be cut into any brand HO GP35 (or other loco).
